Chapter 5: Only One Thing
The next morning, I woke up with 100% happiness filling my body. I didn’t even care that it was 5:40 AM. Hell, I wouldn’t even care if I went to sleep at midnight and woke up at 12:05. I got up and worked through my normal “morning routine” and texted Ryan, telling him that I could stay after at his swim practice. I finished at 6:30 so I texted Payton to come over early if she was finished putting herself together. Five minutes later, Pay was in my house.
“Hey! Are you excited Lyns?” was the first thing she screamed as she got in my house.
“Yes! Oh my goodness. I just can’t believe that it’s today! Nothing can ruin this day.”
She smiled, but then walked away, to the kitchen of course. She grabbed a Nutrigrain bar and an apple. “So. Do you have dance class tomorrow?”
“No. They are giving me the week off because I haven’t had a break in months and months. They thought since I’ve been working so hard I deserved a week off.” I said.
“Oh okay. Do you want to go to the gym with me tomorrow then? I haven’t been there in forever. I tend to slack off in Winter when I don’t have sports.” she took a bite of apple.
“I’d love to go. We can head there after school tomorrow.” I responded really excited. Due to my busy schedule I hadn’t been to the gym in what felt like forever.
By the time she finished her apple it was time to go. “Alright let’s head out.” she said. It was 7:05 when we left, yes, we left a little late, but we usually get to school early anyways, so we shouldn’t be late at all. We were making our way to Pillsbourgh High and then stopped at a 4-way light, laughing at the morning phone tap were the radio man, using a Jamaican Accent, was trying to sell this woman fruit and wouldn’t stop calling, it was hilarious.
Don’t you want to buy some oranges? yes?
No! Maybe you don’t realize this, but I DON’T WANT ANY OF YOUR APPLES, BANANAS, MANGOS…
ohh! yes the mangos. So..um. Juicy and just yum yum? You buy? yes. You buy.
NO! I DON’T WANT ORANGES, PINEAPPLES, AND I DEFINITELY DON’T WANT ANY MANGOS! Now go the (cuss word cuss word) away and get it through your (cuss words yes) mind that I don’t want nor will I EVER want any fruit from you, EVER! Good(cuss)bye!
It just kept going and going. She hangs up, he calls her back, she cusses, he interrupts. Priceless. Completely Priceless.
After a minute or two the light turned green and Pay started to head towards school again, we were about 5 minutes away; I was in literal tears from laughing so hard when the lights went out, everything went out.
