"I'm home," I announce as I walk through the door untying my Converse.
No reply. I guess no ones home. I hear pads of feet running into the hall. I look up to see Athena trotting towards me.
"Athena!" I say cheerfully.
She barks and sets her head down in my lap.
"Your such a spoiled German Shepherd," I tease her.
She playfully growls and I laugh at her response. I pet her a few times before standing up. I run upstairs with Athena following me.
When I get into my room I set my bag down on my desk. Athena curls up on her cushion in the corner. I change into loose shorts before sitting down on my bed and pulling out my phone.
11:43.
I got home earlier than I expected. School ends in a hour so if my mum comes home early I'll tell her I got sick. She doesn't know I ditch on Fridays.
I let out a yawn and stretch. Athena's ear perk up at my remark. I smile at her before laying down. I scroll through Twitter and Tumblr for awhile before I finally crash.

"Savanna," he says.
"Yes?"
I glance over at him to see his face is more tense than before. His pupils are small and his eyes are a darker green.
"I can't fucking do this anymore," he admits and stands up.
"What do you mean you can't do this?" I ask trembling in fear.
He better not being doing what I think he's doing.
"Living," he replies in a small voice.
When I don't say anything he announces he's going to the bathroom and walks out of the room. I readjust myself on the couch and let out a sigh.
I don't understand him sometimes. I love him so much and I care about him a lot. He has at least one person that he knows is very fond of him. So why would he want to kill himself? My thoughts are shattered when I hear a loud gun shot.
I run as fast as my legs can go to the bathroom. The doors locked. Fuck. Without a doubt, I use all the strength I have to bust down the door.
When the door flings open I see him there. A dark pool of blood beneath him starts to form. He's dead.
I hear another loud gun shot and I let out a terrifying scream.
-
I bolt up quickly. A pair of blue eyes meet mine when I search the room.
"You're up," she says.
"What are you doing here?" I ask.
"Question is, why were you screaming? Did it happen again?" she asks.
I nod slowly.
"Oh," she says.
"Audrey, could you go? I mean not to be mean but I want some alone time, I have to finish my English essay and shower," I manage to say.
I'm still in shock from the dream. It's been happening every night since the event.
"Okay," she mumbles.
She hops off my bed and grabs her bag off my desk. Before she slams the door I mutter a 'sorry.' And I was sorry. I wanted to hang out with her but I also need to shower and finish my homework.
I let out a small sigh before getting up. I strip down and put my bathrobe on before entering my bathroom. I lock the door and set the music on my phone to shuffle.

"In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice-"
"Savanna," a stern voice cut me off from reading.
I bookmark the first page in The Great Gatsby and look up. My mum stands in the doorway with a neutral look. I wondering what she's thinking.
"Yes, mother?" I raise an eyebrow at her.
She walks over to me and sets my iPhone 5s on the edge of my bed.
"You left your phone downstairs, it went off a few times so I brought it up here. I didn't mean to snoop, I just checked the notifications on the lock screen. Some boy named 'Marcus' called you twice," she says.
I keep my eye contact on the hardwood floor as she continues, "Who is he?"
I think for a moment. Who is Marcus to me? My friend? Just an acquaintance? My prom date? Just some guy I hung out with earlier? All of above?
"He's just a friend," I say in a low voice.
"Are you sure? You can tell me anything," she assures me.
"Yea he's just a friend from school," I mumble.
"Okay, I'm making stir-fry for dinner do you want anything to drink?" she asks.
"No, no it's fine mum if I need anything I'll get it myself you do enough for me anyways," I tell her.
"Okay sweetie," she smiles and gets up.
She turns to leave before she does, she drops a crumpled up piece of paper on my desk. I look down at my book and back up to see she finally left.
I get up off my bed and retrieve the paper. I open it and flatten it out before reading the messy handwriting.
Savanna,
I had a really nice time today. When I stopped by earlier your mom said you were sleeping so I left a note. I was thinking, do you want to go to dinner tomorrow with me? Text me if it's a yes.
-M
I smile down at the note before texting him yes about going to dinner.
I set down my phone and get back to reading for a while before my mum calls me down for dinner. I tell her about going to dinner with Marcus and him being my prom date. She's really excited I'm going to prom.
A call interrupts our dinner and I stare down at my plate while she's on the phone. When the call ends she sits back down and stares at me.
"Savanna."
"Yea?" I look up at her while chewing on a piece of broccoli.
"Your dad called, he said they found her body."
I choke on my food when I realize what she said. They found her body.
