You run up and out of the long hallway. Sarah follows behind, but you can tell she is very upset. I mean, who wouldn't be? You are literally killing everyone in your way. Let's see, how many has she seen you kill? There was Shaft, Chain, Bolt, and the baker. That's four, and those are only the one's she seen. Ah, speaking of the Baker, you run past his body on your way out. The bloody triangle still glaring at you. No one has found it yet, well, other than a few flies. You can only guess what is running through Sarah's poor innocent head, because you can't read minds. Unlike me, heck, I'm not just reading minds, I'm controlling them. Do remember when you could do that? I don't. That was so long ago.

Is there a point to all this? I have things to do.

No, no point at all. I was just reminding you of a few details. Like who's in charge here.

Yes, that would be me. I am in charge of this story. What I say goes.

Of course, until I knock you out and throw you in jail again.

Just keep moving the plot along.

Fine. You walk past the dead baker's body. Sarah does her best to keep from gagging, or from yelling at you for being a crazy mad man who just kills people because he gets bored. Probably both. You step out of the storage room. It is dark, and very late into the evening. Right as you step out of the door into the main room a rugged looking man walks in from outside. He's startled to see you.

“Pardon me sir, do I know you?” I ask.

“Uh, no.” You see a blood covered knife in the strap of his belt. His eyes are twitchy, and his breath is heavy like he's been running. His stubble beard smells of alcohol and his clothes could use a wash. He is obviously a thief, anyone could point that out. Even the little children who don't know much about anything could tell you that. He's just one of those type of people.

“Where's the baker?”

“A large order of 427 cakes came in. He had to leave for supplies.” I wink at him.

The men relaxes “Ah, I see. May I come in then?” He winks back and starts taking a step forward.

“New protocol, actually.” I say, stopping him where he is. “You need to check in with me. Come this way.” I lead him outside to the nearest alley.

He follows, but is clearly confused. Sarah comes along as well, because that's all she ever does as your slave. The street is empty except for a stray dog and a sleeping bum. The alley however is completely empty, totally set apart from the rest of society.

“What? New protocol? They would have told me about a change in security. Are you new around here? I've never seen you before. And who's the girl?” He says pointing at Sarah.

“I'm afraid things suddenly changed in management. I'm not new here, you've just never seen me before. And this 'girl' you speak of is the woman paying you. So I'd show a little respect if I were you.” I quickly give Sarah a meaningful glare that says “Just follow along”.

She looks startled, but then plays along. She straightens up and gives a demeaning look to the man. But she obviously only does that because of how scared she is of you. Oh, it's not obvious? Sorry, I forgot you can't read minds, again. So sorry.

 I hate you.

Splendid. The man says “So who are you then? Let me speak to Shaft.”

“My name is Drake. Shaft is currently away on a very important mission. Stop asking stupid questions. Now, what's your name?”
