Now Kate wasn't sure when to begin walking to school. Ever since she moved to her new house, that was the one thought she kept thinking. At her old house in Birmingham, she would always go to school at 7:30. That was an okay time to walk, since the school started 8:15 and there was a way to go. But the new school started 8:30. She had no idea if the bus even drove past her house. Her little brother had already began walking to school. He was in 4th grade while Kate was in 8th grade. They don't exactly go to the same school. It wasn't the fact that she didn't know where the school was. She had been visiting the school on Friday, three days ago. Making today Monday. She hadn't gotten her school uniform yet, so she didn't have to stress about that. Her mom told her to not be late for her first day of a new school, since that would give a bad impression. Kate was so stressed that she decided to just begin walking, better late than never anyway.

Their house was big, but not posh. There was a hedge surrounding it, but not the gate. They had a huge garden with a trampoline. Once Kate stepped outside she noticed a bus stop, and a bus full of pupils heading for it. She closed the door, jumped down a couple of stairs outside her door, then ran over the streets, she wasn't exactly a fast runner, but she wasn't slow either. The bus was closing in, and she was in the middle of the road. The bus swerved to avoid her, and she survived somehow. The bus stopped, and the door opened. She stepped in, all sweaty while everyone in the bus stares at her. There was a seat available in the front row, with a girl sitting on the seat next to the window. She was also staring at Kate, but not as intense as the other pupils. "Excuse me, is this seat taken?" Kate asked the girl. She smiled at Kate, and responded with "no, just sit down" while smiling brightly at her. When Kate sat down she got a better look at the girl. "I'm Rose, whats your name?" the girl said, holding out her hand. Kate took her hand firmly, while smiling back at the girl. "I'm Kate, I just moved here" Now that Kate had sat down, she got a better look at Rose. She was beautiful, that was Kate's first thought. She had black hair in a bun, with a few hair strands out. She had a flower in the bun, It really suited her. It should have been a rose, but this one was white. She wore a school uniform, and she had braces, but almost perfect teeth. "So when did you move here, Kate?" Rose asked. "Oh I moved here Thursday last week." Kate answered. " What school will you be going to?" "Hopefully the one this bus goes to" Rose snickered "I'm going to coal hill high school"Rose smiled to Kate,"That is the school this bus goes to" Kate felt a weight lift off her shoulders. Kate looked outside, and noticed a tunnel that seemed to be abandoned. A few minutes later the bus arrived to the school.

Now not much happened at the school. Rose showed Kate to the principals office so she could get her uniform and her class. She also got to see a map of the seats in the classroom. That was when she noticed she was in the same class as Rose. She could feel a little blush coming, but tried to hide it. The class was sitting in pairs, so Kate asked the principal if they could sit together. The principal granted that request. She was a bit worried that Rose didn't want to sit with her, but when she told Rose later that day, she smiled at her and said "Oh don't worry! I was hoping I got to sit next to you!" Kate could feel herself blushing again.

They figured they lived close to each other, so they walked home together. It was so Rose could show Kate the way to school and back. Kate also hoped that she would show her her house. On the way they passed the tunnel she noticed earlier when they were taking the bus to school. She could feel a cold breeze coming from the tunnel. She got a sudden urge to walk in. She turned to Rose. "Hey, what is on the other side of that tunnel?" Kate asked Rose. "I'm not sure, I don't think they ever finished building it." Rose answered. That's weird, Kate thought to herself. "Whats inside it?" "I think an abandoned building. It was built under the war."
Kate loved horror and supernatural stories. An abandoned building was one of the things on the list of things she found exciting. "Want to explore it?" Kate asked Rose. "Hell yeah!"
