Reader's POV
I aimed my bow at the target, lining the arrow head with the man's head. I sighed and let go of the bow string, watching the arrow fly through the air and embed itself in the target's head. His black hair fell in front of his face as his body collasped into the snow. Red blood began to pool around the body as I turned back to the dark forest. I slipped away into the shadows and hid behind a tall pine tree.
"Only three more." I muttered absently. I looked around for Cicero before remembering our conversation the night before.
*flashback*
"Hey Cicero can I talk to you?" My voice shook as I nervously walked down the short hall and into the master bedroom.
"Of course my Listner!" His cheery voice rang loud in the stone building. I slowly shuffled over to the jester until I stood in front of him.
"I don't think you should accompany me on my next contract." I nervously shuffled my feet and kept my eyes focused on the floor. "Did Cicero anger the Listener?" I felt a pair of hands grab onto my shoulders. Only when he shook me lightly did I look up and meet his gaze.
I could see sadness swimming in his eyes. "No Cicero you didn't-" I was interrupted by a soft kiss to the lips. My eyes widened before I closed them slowly. Cicero placed his hands on the small of back and pulled me into his chest.
"What did Cicero do?" He whispered after pulling away. "Nothing. I'm not angry. I just need some time to think." I replied quietly. He nodded before letting go and walking out of the room.
I sighed and slumped down on the bed taking deep breaths to calm myself. Tears were beginning to form in my eyes but I blinked them away and made my face like stone.
*end of flashback*
I shook my head to clear my thoughts and trudged through the snow towards Shadowmere. He neighed once before allowing me to climb into the saddle.

Cicero's POV"Oh Mother why does Listner not want Cicero to be around? What did poor Cicero do wrong?" I cried out while oiling the Night Mother. I knew she wouldn't speak to me for (Y/N) is the Listner but I still enjoyed the comfort in talking to her. "Oh poor Cicero!" I cried out again.
I turned as the stone door burst open. The sound echoed around the Sanctuary accompanied by the sound of light footsteps. The footsteps drew closer before (Y/N) entered the Night Mothers chambers.
"Yes?" She asked wearily.
The Night Mother must be speaking to her! I realised. I moved back against the wall and watched as (Y/N)'s expression changed to one of annoyance. "Yes Mother." She sighed before leaving down the small ramp.
I crept down the hall and to the ramp. I quickly glanced around before jumping down and hurrying into the bedroom (Y/N) disappeared into.
"Listner?" I asked as I opened the wooden door. I heard shuffling coming from under the blankets and I giggled as I saw her head pop out from underneath the many furs. "Yes Cicero?" She yawned widely. "Is the Listner still 'thinking'?" I hung my head and watched my feet.
"Cicero..." Her voice was as sweet as honey. I lifted my head and slowly shuffled to the edge of the bed. "I'm done thinking." She grabbed me and pulled me into a tight hug, giggling as I fell backwards onto the mattress.
I giggled too as she snuggled up in the crook of my arm, her head resting on my chest and her hair splayed out on the pillows. I kissed the top of her head and held her tightly. I looked down and watched as her eyes began to flutter and her breathing evened out. "Cicero will never leave the Listener. Spiders could eat his face off and faithful Cicero wouldn't move an inch." I laughed before closing my eyes and falling into a calm slumber.
