Chapter Three: Unexpected Friend
As I enter the large entrance of the school, I was astounded to see a larger hallway full of people squirming around. I spotted a groups of people together and couples making out. Great. What a morning.
I passed through the stampede of people and I'm shoved by large people or groups of people most of the time. I went straigh to the Dean's Office to grab my class schedule and locker information.
"Good Morning, what can I do for you?" A woman asked me smiling. She was young, almost like our age. She has golden brown hair and her eyes were blue even though it was nearly blocked by her glasses. And she was freakishly tall.
"Uhm, I'm here for my class schedule and locker information." I asked all fidgety.
"Sure. Wait, let me go check for it. Raven Austins right?" She asked me while scanning through all the paperwork.
"Ye-e-es." I stutter.
"Oh no, don't be shy Raven. Okay, here you go. Here's your class schedule and locker information. Have fun and good luck on your first day." She told me cheerfully.
"Uhm, okay. Thanks..." Oh, that's right, I even don't know the Dean's name.
"Agnes Black. But you can call me Agnes." Agnes told me smiling.
"Oh, okay. Thanks again Agnes. Will do." I said with a shy smile while I went out of the office. Well, that was nice.
I scanned my class schedule and I'm very thankful to my dad 'cause he picked all of my favorite subjects. The list says:
8:00AM: Pre-Calculus
10:00AM: Advance English
11:00AM: History
1:30PM: Art
2:30PM: Physical Education
At least, I know to myself that I'll have fun studying again.

"Okay class. Settle down. I'm Mr. Summers. Today, we shall be only discussing about the syllabus and afterwards, you may mingle with the other students in this class." Mr. Summers said with a smile as he sat down on top of his desk.
I listened and took down notes on what to do for the whole semester. Well, I can say that Pre-Calc will be a piece of cake. Note the sarcasm.
In the middle of the discussion, we were stopped by a voice. A girl's voice.
"I'm so-orry if I'm late. I got lo-ost on the way here. It won't happen again sir." The girl said panting. She looks like she ran a marathon or something.
This girl caught my attention. Man, she's beautiful. Her green eyes the glistens. Her red hair that reaches her back and her smile is so cute.
"It's fine Ms. Roberts. Please, you may have your seat in anywhere you like." Mr. Summers said to her.
I noticed that the jocks in front were howling at her and the cheerleaders on the other side was giving her death glares. But, it was like it was nothing to her.
I noticed that the only seat available was the seat beside me near the windows.
As she took her seat next to me, she began to speak.
"Hey, I'm Meredith." She said as she gestured her hand towards me.
"Uhm, I-I'm Raven." I shaked her hand shyly.
"Well, are you new here too, Raven?" She asked me.
"Yea. Me, my dad and my sister just moved in here yesterday." I told her.
"Me too! Where do you live?" She asked me with full of glee.
"Avondale. 3rd street." I told her shyly. Man, what's wrong with me? I know I'm shy, but, not that shy!
"Me too! Well, me, my sister and my mom live in 5th street though." She told me smiling.
"That's, uhh, great." I replied. I ran out of words all of a sudden.
"You don't talk too much do you?" She asked me worriedly.
"Uhm, yeah. I never really talked to other people before." I answered while looking at my notes.
"I..." before she could finish, the bell rang. I grabbed my things and stood up.
"Okay guys, remember what we discussed. Tomorrow, the real fun begins." Mr. Summers told us as we moved out of the room.
While I was about to reach the exit of the room, an arm yanked me. I was startled by this.
"Hey, Raven, what's your next class?" Meredith asked me.
"Advance English." I replied.
"Me too! Can we go together? We're both new to this place. I could use a friend right now." She told me shyly and with a small smile.
"Uhm, yea. Sure." I answered and smiled. I'm happy. More beyond happy.
Me and Meredith spent the day together. Helping each other in this new school.
"Thanks Rav, for helping me out today. I hope tomorrow we can hang out again." Mer told me as she hugged me goodbye.
"Sure Mer. Take care now. Bye." I waved off as we walked out of the school.

I had my first friend in my high school life. A friend. Friend.
That word never left my mind until the end of the day.
