Fight at the End

“I thought you said you liked this kid.”

“If the buggers get him, they’ll make me look like his favorite uncle.”

“We can’t expose him to her. It’s too dangerous. They haven’t even fully awakened her and she’s already causing problems; her eyes opened when it was only half way done!”

“I don’t see what the problem is…”

“That was only a few hours ago! Imagine what she could do while she’s awake, kill us all, including him…and then we’re all doomed.”

Waiting, that’s all that she’s been doing.

Upon awakening Selene had immediately been held down. Anger coursed through her, who the hell were they! Why were 11 different people waiting at the ready to restrain her? Did they even know who she was, what she could so easily do to them? But, more importantly, where the HELL was she?

After Selene calmed down enough to talk to, which wasn’t very calm at all considering the last thing she remembered was being with Michael after they had killed Marcus and William. Everything is…different. She didn’t like it.

Apparently, she has been “contained”, as they say, for nearly 60 years. They, IF, had caught others of her kind and performed certain tests that were “necessary” in order for them to really decide if they wanted to keep her. 

Waiting in the simulation room has been the most excruciating experience Selene has ever gone through. Waiting for some Ender Wiggin to teach him how to fight hand-to-hand combat. Which Selene thought was rather silly, considering the way IF explained it, Ender was to lead the fleets, with the simulator that she was standing next to.

“What’s the point of teaching him how to fight if he isn’t going to be there at all?” She questioned in a rather sassy tone. “Isn’t that ridiculous? He isn’t even going to be using what I teach him to fight these, what are they, buggers. This is pointless, send me back to Earth now.” With each word Selene had gotten more agitated and was walking to the man, Graff, with her just above shoulder length black hair inching closer across her face, her defined eyebrows slowly sinking further to a point at the bridge of her nose. Her voice, growling as she took each new step towards Graff. But what was worse, her stunningly, too blue eyes glowed with a fury none of the IF agents had seen before. It almost discouraged Graff enough to give up on what they planned and just do what she said and send Selene back to earth as she had just requested. But that would be detrimental to their future plans. They new Ender would destroy the buggers in his last “simulation” next week, no doubt about it, even Mazer agreed. No, they needed Ender to know how to fight. The up coming wars on Earth were too important, they needed him to fight. He hadn’t learned enough about that in battle school.

Ender found her in the simulation room. Or, and least he thinks he’s in there. He’s not sure anymore, everything is a dream. It’s been a long time since he’s eaten anything. Mazer stopped trying to get him to eat, and when Mazer gives up so does everyone else. He still hears Mazer and Graff in his dreams at night. Ender doesn’t have any fight left in him anymore. He could care less about his training with Mazer, or this stupid bugger war. He’s just so tired.

“He’s too small. What do you expect me to do with him? Before I even start I’ll break him like a toothpick.” Those were very strange things to say in a dream. She wasn’t even looking at him…

“Of course he’s small, he’s 11. But he’s the best we’ve got. You were told to teach him how to fight, and that is what you were going to do.” The authoritative voice of Mazer Ender recognized right away. When did he even get in the room, has he been here the whole time? The woman he didn’t know, but he could tell she was dangerous. He won’t underestimate her like he did Mazer when Ender first saw him in his room. She was tall, probably a little shorter if she didn’t have those boots on. She was wearing all black leather and the way she holds herself screams power.
