"Hey, are you okay?" asked Connor.

"Kind of," I said. We'd only left the kingdom a few hours ago. He gave me a look that basically said your lying right to my face aren't you?

"Hey, look at the ahead!" I said.

"What why?" he asked.

"Because you might fall off!" I said.

"Aww you do care!" he teased.

"Uh huh," I rolled my eyes,"so when do we stop?"

"We stop when it gets dark," he replied.

"Do we even have supplies to stop? For example, a tent?!" I asked.

"Yeah totally," he said.

I gave him an uneasy look. I love Connor, but he's so forgetful sometimes.

"I did!" he replied.

"Then check!" I snapped.

He then stopped his horse as did I and started checking his pack on the side of his horse.

"Well?" I asked.

"Yeah... maybe we should go into town," he replied with a sorry look.

I rolled my eyes and sighed.

"Alright, let's go..." I said. I mean can you blame me! I just wanted to get to well.. wherever we were supposed to be.

"Why are you so annoyed?!" he finally asked.

"Gee I wonder why?" I said in a sarcastic voice, "maybe it has something to do with the fact that I had to LEAVE MY HOME! NEVER EVER RETURN! or at least until my father lets me back or dies."

"Geez Cal, Chill," he said putting his hands up like he was innocent.

"Whatever," I snapped,"which way do we go?"

"Um," he said as got out his map.

"We go west," he said pointing east.

"Hey genius," I teased.

"Yeah?" he replied.

"That's east," I said while laughing.

"WHAT?! How do you know?" he asked.

"I have a compass. Sometimes having a brother that overpacks helps!" I replied with a laugh.

"Ugh okay I trust you!" he said while turning his horse around.

Looking at the compass reminded me of my brother. I couldn't think about him now. I'm not in my kingdom anymore and who knows if I'll even ever return.

A tiny village is just up ahead. It looks really similar to the ones in our kingdom. I was about to get off my horse when I heard someone coming towards us. I had hid a dagger in my boot just in case someone tried to hurt me. I reached inside my boot and pulled it out. Then without thinking I threw it hard. What am I doing?! What if I hurt an innocent person! I thought. I was afraid to turn around. I thought for a moment. Whatever just happened you'll have to face it. I then remember what my brother said to me after I broke something.

"Don't run away from your problems!" he said as I ran out the door.

I turned around and there was a guard. He looked angry. Meanwhile Connor was just in shock. His mouth was dropped open.

"I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed.

"Uh huh," said the guard while rolling his eyes, "whatever state your business here."

Harsh much.

"We are here to-" I started to say as Connor cut me off.

"We're merchants," he said.

I face palmed. Really Connor?! That's the best you could think of? I looked at him like he was stupid.

"Yeah tell them Calista," he said. I was about to complain when he gave me a look that told me to just deal with it.

"Yeah, we need to trade with a merchant because he's run out of some resources," I replied.

"Oh really? Then why'd you have a dagger?" asked the guard.

"Well-" I started to say again.

"We get raided a lot by bandits because we have valuables on us occasionally," he replied.

"Very well," he said looking unimpressed, "you may enter our village."

I let out a sigh of relief. We began to walk inside with out horses besides us.

"Why'd you keep cutting me off?" I asked.

"I don't know I just started speaking, sorry," he replied.

"It's fine. Since you're so cute I'll forgive you," I said as I kissed him on the cheek.

"Aww, but now let's figure out where a merchant would be selling something," he said.

"Right. Also we should find an inn because I doubt we're going find a merchant who is selling a tent tonight," I said.

"That's true," he replied, "first let's find an inn."

"Okay," I said. We walked into the village square. There were so many merchants and people. I just walked up to the first person I saw. In this case it was a man.

"Hello?" I said as I tapped on his shoulder.

"Yes ma'am," he replied.

"Do you know where the nearest inn is?" I asked.

"Um... I believe it's straight and then the first left," he said.

"Oh, thank you," I replied.

"No problem," he said as he went back to what he was doing.

"Connor!" I called out.

He wasn't behind me anymore.

"Where are you Connor?!" I called out again.

He came running towards me.

"Yes, I'm at your service," he said with a bow.

I rolled my eyes while letting out a laugh.

"Well I'm not here to joke around though," I replied in a serious tone, "there's an inn if we go straight to go down the first left."

There was a long pause .

"Well what are we waiting for?" he asked.

Then we started to run.
