Stella's POV
My head was ringing with Alice's voice when she shook me awake as I mumbled an indistinctive sound that sounded like "go away."
"Stella I'm serious. Wake up! Mr. Bourban is looking in our direction." Alice whispered harshly.
Ugh. While I rubbed my red half asleep eyes, I heard a far off voice approaching me louder and louder. When I focused my eyes on the approaching voice, I realized it was Mr. Bourban walking toward my desk.
"Stella Spauldings, since you believe it is acceptable to fall asleep in my class, please explain what I have talking about during this class. Please enlighten us." Mr. Bourban boomed after glaring at me with his blue crisp eyes.
Crap... Uh... what would he talk about? I tried looking at Alice with hopeful eyes, but Alice only cast back an "I told you so look" and continued to ignore my pleas of help as she smirked.
Jerk.
"Ms. Spauldings, maybe you should stop staring at Ms. Redhawk and explain what I have talked about during this class. Ms. Spauldings. We're waiting.." Mr. Bourban said.
"Um.. Uh... Uh..." I stammered out as I saw amused faces surrounding me and a sea of snickers and whispers.
"We're waiting." Mr. Bourban stated impatiently.
"We were talking about witchcraft and powers?" I answered hesitently.
"Well Ms. Spauldings isn't that what our course here is called. Now please explain the lesson or else I will have to take off 10 points from your grade." Mr. Bourban replied smugly.
Shit. If I lose another 10 points, then I wouldn't be able to meet the Phoenix. Then I would have to wait another year. Why is my life always so screwed up. Screw me. Screw life. Screw Mr. Bourban. Screw Scarlet. Screw the Phoenix.
"Ms. Spauldings! Ms. Spauldings we are waiting. You do know how 10 points can affect your meeting with the Phoenix? Ms. Spauldings give us your answer. Ms. Spauldings!" Mr. Bourban yelled as he grew more impatient by the clock.
"Um.. We talked about werewolf bites and the dangers it can bring toward witches and wizards." I spoke with hesitation.
With a surprised face, Mr. Bourban said, "Aren't you lucky, Ms. Spaudlings? But next time I find you zoning out in my class, you will not have another chance, and your appointment with the phoenix will be moved to next wizardly year. Understood?"
I mumbled out a yes and gave Mr. Bourban a plastic smile.
"Well, then class dismissed. And class don't forget about your appointment with the Phoenix." Mr. Bourban reminded us after he closed up his books and walked out of the door.
Damn that was close.
"Damn that was close." Alice said as she smirked. "And what was it you said when you started to panick? Screw me? Screw Alice? I'm hurt, I thought I was forever your friend."
"What? How did you know that? Did I think outloud? Shit if I thought outloud, Mr. Bourban's gonna kill me." I said nervously.
"Nope. I found my powers and match." Alice said as a wide smile burst from her lips.
"OH MY GOD. ARE YOU A TELEPHATIC? WHAT STATE ARE YOU IN? DID YOU MEET THE PHOENIX? WHO'S YOUR MATCH!?!?!?" I screamed as I jumped in joy and embraced Alice.
"Woah. One question at a time Stella, but shouldn't we get out of this classroom. We are gonna miss our lunch. I'll fill you in when we're walking to the lunchroom." Alice laughed as she packed her bags and walked out to the door.
"True. I hate Mr. Bourban. I think he has pleasure in torturing little kids. I'm betting you that's his one goal in life, to torture the living hell lights out of us." I smiled as I walked down to the door.
"Stella watch out!" I heard Alice, but the next second I realized I was on the floor.
"Watch the fuck you're going Spauldings." I heard as I saw a blonde boy towering over me. As I recovered from the fall, I realized I accidentally bumped into the jerkiest jerk of all jerks in the world, Sky Geyer.
Sky Geyer, the "perfect guy" in our school. He's one of the lucky people that was gifted with the power of an element, he had the power to control fire. . But other than having one the gift to control an element, he had flawless features too. He looked kinda like a younger version of Leonardo DiCaprio in the Titanic, just taller and with messy blonde hair.
"Spauldings are you checking me out?" I heard as I started to blanking out. A wave of snickers erupted as I focused my eyes onto Sky's turquoise emerald eyes.
"Geyer, why would I ever check you out? That would never happen even if we were the last people on earth." I snapped back.
"Spauldings everyone knows that you have a crush on me. Just admit it and maybe I'll accept your feelings." He smirked.
"Like the bloody hell that would happen but maybe in your dreams Geyer." I said as I walked away to the cafeteria.Welcome to the first chapter of Matched.
