"You okay?" Jonny asked.
"You mean if I don't have a hangover after so many milkshakes?"
"You know what I mean."
Mare had done her best trying to ignore the fact that she had seen Kyle and Taylor together for the first time. She was great at hiding her emotions, but she was too transparent to Jonny's eyes.
"I'm fine, Jonny. I live in the same building, I need to get used to it."
"Well, I have practice with the band tonight and promised to cook supper for Mia later, but if you need me you can call me and we'll go hard on smoothies!"
"Oh yeah, totally."
"Okay then, Mare, sweet angel, I'll see you around."
"Jonny!" She rushed to say before he hung up. "Thanks."
"Anything for a damsel in distress."
It was a sunny Saturday morning, very weird at this time of the year in London, she heard birds singing, sunshine was sneaking through the window and damn, it looked like the perfect day to take her bag and go somewhere, a picnic, ride a bike or even a horse. She hated that day.
Couldn't the whether help a little and go along with her mood?
She tried to stay in bed for longer, she wanted to waste the day and feel sorry for herself, but who was she kidding? That's not the person she was, she had to do something.
She got up and took a cold shower, dressed on simple clothes and went coffee shop hunting. She chose a neighborhood and went all the way there walking and kept on until she smelled the delicious coffee steaming somewhere.
The place was small but lovely. Wood tables with garden flowers in the middle, blue curtains and a white door. A young girl, daughter of the owner took her order and shared a smile with her. Mare couldn't help but think of a story for her, she was still about fourteen or fifteen, but she thought someday, a fair gentleman would stumble into the place and ask for a coffee, they would click immediately and fall in love. Or maybe she had already found love, you can never be too young.
After that she went for a walk, despite the sun, the cool breeze sent chills through her body. She walked around for a while until she found a bench and sat on it. That empty street would be nice to go bike riding.
She remembered the day Kyle had come wake her up with plane tickets in his hand.
"We're going to Amsterdam." He simply said.
A grumpy and sleepy Mare kicked him away. "It's too early."
"Since when are you not a morning person?"
"Since when are you?"
"Whatever!" He climbed on the bed and started kissing her cheeks. "Let's go to Amsterdam!"
That woke her. "Are you serious?"
"It's a beautiful day in the Netherlands, perfect to go for a ride."
She was sold. They decided they could go if just for a day. She loved how he planned last minute trips. They would go on adventures and have the best of times, while when planning something with time, something always went wrong.
Click.
She woke from dreamland and found herself seating on the bench, a man was taking pictures of her.
"What do you think you're doing?" She asked furiously.
"Sorry," he put the camera down and she saw his face. He was a handsome guy, young and had a perfect smile. A creepy guy taking pictures of random people on the street. "I was taking pictures around and saw you."
