A/N, Hiiiii, I'm new here so please follow, vote, review, etc. Also share with anyone who might be interested in my fanfics and stories. As always, I own nothing... (Except my OCs)
A little backstory is that Nico is attending Goode High School as a Freshman (I think? I'm not American) and he has made two mortal friends-(OCs Kat and Hunter) weird names now that I'm thinking about it...Anyway, Enjoy!
Nico sat down. He was in his usual spot, a table tucked into the back corner of the cafeteria. The only people that sat with him were his two mortal friends. Kat, a tomboy with short light brown hair and pale green eyes, and Hunter, a guy with dirty blond hair and warm brown eyes. "Hey Nico." Kat greeted him with a smile. "Hey guys, how was maths class?" Hunter and Kat launched into a detailed explanation about how Hunter had corrected the teacher on a math problem she had messed up and she flipped out at him. Nico smiled occasionally at the conversation. He wished he had been there. He was in a much lower class due to his dyslexia. Hunter was super smart however and Kat made it into the higher classes with him only because he tutored her and helped with her homework.
The two had been dating for a few weeks. Nico was happy for them but it made him miss his amazing boyfriend Will even more than he already did. A loud voice snapped him out of his daydream. "Hey di Angelo!" Matt Sloan called over the tables as he strolled towards him. Nico groaned inwardly. Matt had been trying to get under his skin all year. Of course, Nico could unleash armies of the dead on him, not to mention pull out his sword and stab the bully, but after the recent Giant War, he was trying not to kill so many things lately.
"What do you want Matt?" Hunter growled, he kind of reminded Nico of Jason. "It's fine guys you know I like to fight my own battles." He told his friends. "Hey, Nico, is it true you're an orphan? Did mummy and daddy die?" Matt taunted him. Nico felt his blood boil. "You probably killed them yourself you little freak." Spat Matt, laughing along with his goons at his side. Nico stood up. Anger flaring in his eyes. "Piss off Matt, you don't know anything about me." Nico shot at him. "Oh yeah, I know you're a creepy emo kid with no family. Probably killed your siblings as well." Matt sneered. That did it. Before Matt knew what was happened Nico was in front of him. Eyes burning with intense anger and pain. "You can insult me, my father, even my dead mother, but you can not insult my sister." He said in a deathly calm voice. Fear flickered across the bully's face before regaining its sneer. "What are you gonna do about it Nico? You can't fight me." Matt spat at him. "Get away from me now Matt before you do something you regret." Nico answered.
"What like this-" Matt started as he swung a clumsy punch at the smaller boys face. Quick as lightning, Nico sidestepped expertly grabbing Matt's arm and twisting it painfully in the process. Sloan crumpled to the floor, letting out a cry of shock and pain. "If you ever insult me or anyone I know again, believe me, you will be sorry. You have no idea who I am, what I've been through, and what I'm capable of." Nico threatened. Matt nodded quickly and scrambled out the doors with his friends, humiliated. Nico turned to look at his friends who where staring at him in shock. They shrank back in their seats when they saw the death glare lingering in his eyes. He immediately softened his gaze. "Nico, how...how did you..." Kat stuttered out. "Look guys, I'd rather not talk about it...painful memories you know. I've been in more than a few fights." Nico explained. "Dude, no one has ever showed up Matt like that..." Hunter started. "Yeah, well then he was overdue." Nico replied decisively. "Wait, I didn't know you had a sister." Kat said curiously. Nicos expression turned sad. "She's dead now."
"Oh Nico, we are so sorry, we didn't know..." Hunter apologized for the two. Nico cut them off as he attempted a smile.
"It's fine, like you said, you didn't know. Let's just eat ok?"
