Kyra's POV
I never intended to be in Virginia. But now that I'm here, it's not so bad. I'm making friends, getting good grades, and falling in love. But you're probably wondering what I'm talking about. So, lets go back to the beginning, shall we?
It all happened about a year ago. My mom took a job offer in Virginia. That's why we had to move. I had never been popular. I was just your average 15 year old. A couple good friends, maybe some enemies. But I don't believe in popularity. It's honestly overrated. People always want to be popular but there's nothing really good about it. And you get in a lot of trouble if you mess things up. I used to be popular myself, believe it or not. I was living the dream, or a least I thought I was. That was until I got to high school. My "friends" found new ones and ditched me because they were apparently too pretty to be around me and that I was just an embarrassment to this world. I became depressed, never came out of my room, cut my hair short, stopped caring about what I looked like. I got into the "emo" group at school. We did drugs, got drunk. But one day I took it too far. I was with my friends, and we were on this app called monkey where you talk to random strangers and add them on Snapchat. One of the boys asked for nudes, so I sent them. They posted them on their instagram, and of course other people reposted them, sending them to all their friends possible. One of the people happened to be my twin brother, Jace. He asked me if they were mine, and I was stupid enough to say no. Me and my brother are really close, we keep eachothers secrets. I should have known what was about to happen next. He went to mom. My mom has seen me naked before, so she knows what my body looks like by heart. She immediately knew that they were mine. She grounded me for 3 months, took away social media for what seemed like a year. It was the worst possible pain I could suffer through, knowing that my own mother didn't respect me. After that experience, I decided to change. I began to grow out my hair. I started doing my makeup naturally. I dyed my hair back to my normal color. (It was dyed black before). I began to wear my old clothes again, and I felt great. Truly and honestly, I felt the true Kyra was back. My mom was so proud of me and that was the best feeling ever.
When I was told we were moving to Virginia, I got really excited. It was an opportunity to basically start my life over. For the plane ride I throw on some clothes that I left out for today since all of my other clothes are all packed. The outfit was a mid-length sleeved lace white shirt and a dark blue skirt with polka dots on it, brown sandals, a necklace, and a couple cute bracelets. For my hair, i just curled it. For my makeup, I just did mascara, concealer, and lip gloss. I was ready to go. I ran downstairs and quickly ate breakfast which was a couple pancakes that my mom had made to cheer up my siblings because they were sad about moving. After I'm done eating, I get in the car.
*in Virginia*
We arrive in Virginia, and I go inside the house. It's huge! The house came furnished so everything was already there. Mom and Dad came here a few days before to set up our rooms.
This was my room:
My first day of school was tomorrow and it was really late, so I go to bed.
In the morning, I wake up at 6. I brush my hair and straighten it, then put on a black crop top, jean shorts, my black converse, and to finish it off i tied a red and black flannel around my waist. I also put on my makeup.
