Those damn guards had gone too far this time; you've always had the patience to try and ignore them but now that they stole your money when you needed it the most, when your family needed the most, you snapped. Your temper flared and you began to fight them as much as you could. But even though you fought you knew you couldn't take them all down. But as your adrenaline began to calm and all four guard stared at you with malice in their eyes you knew it was far too late to return. Instead of fighting for what belonged to you, you began to ready yourself to fight for your life. Many people stood and watched rather than help. Some even encouraged the guards, believing that you had done something wrong and had deserved whichever punishment they were going to give you. But all those that passed by gave no second look and your pleads for forgiveness and help fell upon deaf ears. You stood with your forearms blocking your face from any potential strikes and seen the sneer on their faces as you stood beginning to feel more helpless than ever. But with a sudden sound of a blade being unsheathed you feared the worst and closed your eyes. The only thing that made you reopen them was the sound of said sword striking metal and soon you witnessed a clash between one man against four; even though he was obviously outnumbered and slightly outweighed by one of the guards he fought with finesse and made it look almost like an art.
Said man stood clad in red and white attire and once he had killed off the last remaining man he turned to face you. Even of you couldn't see his eyes you knew they were focused right on your. He took a few steps towards you yet you didn't flinch, he gave off the demeanor of someone who could be trusted. Even if he had just killed four men, including one that was taller than him buy several inches and outweighed him by at 100. You allowed him to drag you off to a semi-secluded area and as you both stood there you felt unafraid and even calm.
"I can't thank you enough; I'll do anything in order to repay you." You bowed your heads lightly and looked back up at him. In this light you could see under his hood, and you liked what you seen, even if he did look a bit older than you typical tastes.
"The liberation of Roma has begun." He said as he grasped your arm softly.
"Please, teach me your ways so I may fight them as you do." That he did. Over the series of the next month he taught you everything he knew and some tips and tactics to fight. And upon all this learning you learned about him as well; you learned about his past, his likes and dislikes, and his age, and if you had to say you wouldn't exactly mind dating a 43 year old, especially with you being 26. But one day he left for an important mission so you were left with the other recruits at the assassins den. You laid back and relaxed, trying to tell yourself that he'd be fine and that you had nothing to worry about. But as soon as you heard the signal you knew it was him.
Quickly scaling your way across the town with all other recruits behind you-you had readied yourself to fight; the sight before you did not please you in the slightest.About 10 or 15 men all attacking the man who had saved you from the merely the same situation was now under attack and you wasted not a second to jump into action.
The others quickly followed in your footsteps and attacked, but once their job was done they had ran back towards to the den as instructed, all except for you. Even if you had wanted your body wouldn't have allowed you; you ran to Ezio's side and crouch over him and he was sitting again a wall in obvious pain.
"Ezio,what the hell happened?"
"Nothing,go back to the den." You only looked at him and shook your head.
"I'm not going anywhere until you tell me how this happened." His head snapped towards you and you could see the rage in his eyes.
"Leave right now ______; this is your last warning." His tone was low and threatening, yet you continued to stay where you were.
"So I'll be punished for being concerned over you? What will you do to me then?"
"I will have you removed from the brotherhood." Oh how those words impacted your heart; you lost your family for this creed and now if you kept worrying for the remaining person you held dear he would abandon you as well. Oh how cruel this world truly is. You stood up, tears threatened to fall from your (E/C) eyes. You tried to remain clam but you clenched your hands into fists tightly; Ezio could see you tremble slightly but you stormed off before he could manage to call out for you. The next few weeks were spent in solitude, only being called for missions then being left alone until you had a task to do or until you decided to strike a conversation with the others. That was until you received a knock on your door sometime before dawn. Although it was quiet it was enough to wake you; you got out of the warmth of your bed and walked to the door, opening it to reveal Ezio in the midst of turning to leave, he turned and faced you.
"______,I thought I didn't wake you, I was....going to talk to you at a later time." You simply raised a brow at him. He broke eye contact.
"I see you're still a shit liar; what did you need?"
"About what happened a few weeks ago, I just wanted to clear a few things up." You opened the door a bit wider and signaled him to step in; closing the door after him you made your way back to the bed and wrapped a blanket around yourself. "________I'm really sorry, I just didn't want you to possibly get caught and I just got worried for you."
"You taught me how to fend myself against men much bigger than you and myself and you're still worried? They must've hit your head pretty hard." He let out a chuckle and smiled a bit.
"I tried to apologize but you left and from there I assumed that you needed space and after some time I assumed you hated me. Please tell me you don't." You let out a small laugh and shook your head, "good, I don't know what exactly I would've done if you did, but I still understand if you're angry at me."
"I'm not, I was only mad because you pushed me away when I wanted to help."
"Why would you get mad for that? It's just me, I'm no one special." You smacked him in the back of the head which only made a broad grin form on his face.
"Don't say that idiot, I care about you a lot because you're the last person I care for dearly, and if I lost you I'd have no one else but myself." Your sudden serious tone had caught him off guard. It was all true, he comforted you when you had lost your parents and always found ways to make you smile and laugh when you wanted to the least. He began to form a slight frown when he realized where the conversation was headed towards a serious matter. "I guess what I'm trying to say is that I actually li-," you were cut off by his calloused hand gently cupping your cheek and wiping away a tear that had formed. You hadn't realized that you were crying up until now, and you also didn't realize the feeling of fear in your gut up until now. He removed his hood and now you could see his face clearly once again; the look in his eyes showed understanding and something that you just couldn't understand until you felt his lips gently met yours. They were tentative, making sure he wouldn't scare you off because of any sudden movements, but as you pressed your lips firmer against his he gently pulled you closer to himself; and as you both pulled away and looked into each other's eyes no words had to be exchanged in order to understand these emotions.
This was the first time in weeks in which you could give a meaningful smile without trying to force it. As you smiled you seen that he smiled in return, keeping each other close you felt safe and let out a small laugh. Both of you allowed yourselves to fall back on the bed in the embrace of one another until you both fell asleep peacefully.
