The Last One

Chapter One.

"Pen!!" I heard someone scream across the street, I turned around faster then you could say "Mango Tango". On the other side of the street was my one and only best friend, Hailey Rosewood. "Hailey!!" I screamed back. Hailey smiled, her smiles seemed to warm the place up in seconds, she then ran across the road. "I missed you so much!!" She hugged me. Hailey and I went to primary school together, which was quite a while ago. Hailey of course went to my new school MapleWood High. Hailey grabbed my arm and pulled me across the street. It was the middle of fall and the trees where soon looking bare and dull, but the ground was sprinkled with leave from all different shapes and sizes. MapleWood was a big school, a lot of rich or smart people went here, so I really didn't know why I was here. I never do fit in, me being corky as my mother used to call me. "Here, lemme see your schedule" Hailey jumped up and down. I handed her my schedule, which was crumpled and folded more then in an  origami paper. "While besides all the crumple lines it looks like your in most of my friend's class" she handed me the paper back. I knew I wasn't gonna be in the same class as Hailey, for she was the smartest person I knew.

After class one, which was stressful. I met Hailey at my locker "whose that guy over there, he was in my class and kept looking over at me" Hailey looked behind her, to where the guy was standing. "No no Pen, you do not want to be around him, trust me he breaks hearts faster then an iPhone breaks" I chuckled "Well can I at least know his name" Hailey shook her head "No Ma'am your not find out his name" I closed my locker and locked it "Fine then, I'll find out myself" I turned and walked towards him "No no no" I felt Hailey grab my arm, but I was already standing where he was "Hey I'm Pen" I smiled I heard Hailey sigh and hit head head. "Names Mike" the boy smiled back "We have a lot of classes together" he nodded, and with that Hailey grabbed my arm and dragged me away "if you get heartbroken in the next 5 minutes, I'm done" we both laughed.

After school, Hailey and I walked to my home. "How was math?" I smiled Hailey shrugged "I never had this teacher before and well people say his nice" we both nodded. When we got home Hailey and I both headed upstairs without my parents seeing us "MOOOM!!" My sister yelled 'oh shit' Hailey and I ran up the stairs "Pen? Is that you?" My mother yelled up the stairs "Yeah Mom?" Hailey ran into my bedroom. Both Hailey and I knew that my mom didn't like friends coming over to my house, for studying.

After a lot of convincing that I didn't have a friend over, Hailey and I headed out to one of Hailey's friend's house. Ava's house was huge and had stone walls. You could tell that he went to MapleWood by the look of her house. "Damn.." I stood outside of her house. After introducing myself to Ava, Hailey and I headed out to the field behind Ava's house. The was probably millions and millions of wheat, as far as the eye could see. Hailey and I kept walking through the wheat fields. "Wooh.." look at that Hailey pointed over at what looked like a light source. "Hailey.. that doesn't look good" but Hailey had already started running towards it. I quickly ran behind her "Pen!! It's fire, someone lite this, look" Hailey pick up a box of matches laying by the flame, which was quickly growing. I looked back at Ava's house which was barely a couple metres away. "Who did this" I looked back at the flame, which Hailey was attacking. "I don't know, but I feel like it was aimed for Ava" We both look back at Ava's house which was dark.

I headed back home after all that. My mom was in bed and didn't notice me. I hopped into bed and started reading my book. It was almost 3am when I heard a tapping on my window. I jumped out of bed and opened my curtains, 'Hmm.. probably just a branch of a tree' I thought as I looked around. The neighbourhood seemed dark and oddly quiet, of course it's 3 am and everyone's asleep. I was just about to close my curtains when a sudden movement caught my eye. This time I opened my window "Pst.. what are you doing?" It looked like a person was on my roof by my window. The person was dressed in all black, they came closer until I could see holes where there mouth and eyes where. "What are you doing" the person stared at me blankly. "Nothing.." the persons voice sounded friendly, but mysterious I didn't know if that was jut me or if it was because they were wearing a mask. "Take off your mask, or.. I'll scream." I smiled, I heard a chuckle from them and they took off the mask. I stood in the presence of the hottest guy I've ever seen

'God Damn.. am I drooling.. wait what am I doing standing in front of like the hottest guy in my batman pyjamas'

"Uh.. uh.. you want to come in?" I stuttered. He chucked again and came up to my window "I'll pass for today" he smiled. "I'm Pen" I smiled at him. "Jacob" he sat on my window. "Ok.. what are you doing again?" I folded my arms "I could call the cops" Jacob scuffed "I took my mask off, that's all you need to know" I nodded and sat on my bed. Jacob looked back outside and then at me, my mind literally fainted.
"I better go.. i might come back tomorrow" he winked and with that he ran off.. across my roof.
'Damn..'
I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
