Alright, this is it. The bus is hurtling down the hill. Good thing there's a hill in this town since it allows the bus to go really fast and also hides me from view. The bus gets closer. I wish it would hurry up so I can be done with this life already. Its right in front of me now. Ooooh here comes the good old life flashing before eyes moment. Good times, bad times, happy times, sad times, crushes, heartbreak and what not. I smile one last time. The bus driver looks panicked. Eh doesn't matter anymore. Then I close my eyes and wait for the final few moments to be over. Bam, I'm tackled out of the bus's way. I feel the hard concrete against the right side of my body. Well that hurt. I open my eyes and see that someone's on top of me.
"Mind getting off?" I say with an annoyed tone to my voice.
"No," he says, sounding a little embarrassed, while getting off of me and standing up.
Man, this guy has some nerve tackling me out of the way of freedom. Ugh, great now I'm having second thoughts about ending it all. He offers me a hand to get up and I realize I'm still on the ground. I get up and dust myself off.
"You ok?" he asks.
"I would've been if you hadn't tackled me out of the bus's way," I reply.
Good, I want to kill myself again. You have made the right decision brain. Good job, you should receive a medal for this. I guess I'll head to school. Oh wait nevermind that's a very bad idea. I guess I'll just go to the lakeside or something. I start walking when I hear footsteps behind me. I look behind and see him following me.
"Dude, do you mind like leaving me alone?" I ask him.
He shakes his head to say no. Ugh, why do I have to deal with this? Can't I just be left alone to enjoy my last day? I start running towards the lake hoping to lose him. I look behind and am surprised to see that he can keep up with me. Weird, no one can keep up with me. I'm like the fastest runner in this town. Oh well, speeding up should leave him behind. I start running faster and look behind to see him still keeping up. Ok now I'm pissed. First he pushes me out of the bus's way and now he won't leave me alone. I start sprinting as fast as I can. I look behind to see him getting left behind. Then he starts sprinting and in a few seconds closes the distance between us.
"Oh my god! Leave me alone you piece of shit!" I yell at him as I start panting.
"Ouch. I'm hurt." he responds in a monotone and slightly sarcastic voice.
I turn around and try punching him in the face. He dodges it. I kick him in the knee and start running away again. This time he isn't following me. Good, it looks like he's learned his lesson. I get to the lake and sit down on the ground to catch my breath for a bit. I lay down in the grass and look up at the sky. It's blue and has a few clouds as usual. Boring but a familiar sight. I close my eyes and listen to the birds chirping. I open my eyes to see the sun right above me. I guess it's the afternoon already. I stretch and look around at the trees and the lake right in front of me. I feel like going for a walk through town so that's exactly what I'll do I guess. I walk across the bridge leading to the lake. It's a very old looking wooden bridge. With algae growing on some parts. The town should probably replace it soon.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention. This is basically one of those generic towns. With a stream, a lake close to it, a main street with all the town has to offer when it comes to stores, a gas station/Kwik Trip, a bunch of nice looking houses, a golf course, an elementary, middle, and high school ,a public library, and a daycare. It's surrounded by farms on all sides, and is about half an hour away from the nearest city. Oh and it has close to no racial diversity. I just wanted to mention that for some reason. It's a small, and pretty modern looking town. Trees line the grassy area next to sidewalks. Most of them are still saplings since the town decided to do this recently, but there are some full grown ones. It's pretty nice when you stand under one of them on a hot day and have an ice cold soda. Wait stop it. No brain you aren't allowed to remember any good memories. It could make me change my mind about freeing myself from this world.
I walk to the base of the hill that the bus comes down. Oh god, there he is again. Just walking around doing nothing. Maybe if I walk away he won't notice me. You know the cliche that happens in movies where the main character tries to avoid someone annoying but they fail? I fail. He notices me and starts walking towards me. I try to turn away and run but in seconds he's there and stopping me.
"You're pretty hard to find. Oh, and you should apologize for kicking me," he says in a slightly annoyed tone.
"No, screw you," I say to him.
"Is that how you should be talking to someone who saved your life?" he asks.
"Well buddy I never asked you to!" I yell at him.
I storm off. I try to cross the street. Only to have a car smash into me from the side.
Friend
That idiot! Didn't even bother to at least look both ways before deciding to run away once again? I dial 911.
"911, what's your emergency?"
"My friend got ran over," I tell the responder in a panicked voice.
"Sir, I'd like you to calm down."
"Alright." I say while trying to calm myself down.
"Where are you currently?"
"I'm new in this town so I don't know the street, but I'm at the bottom of the hill street thing." I reply.
"Got it, I want you to check for a pulse. You know how or should I instruct you?"
"I know how," I tell the operator as I check for a pulse. I feel a faint throbbing against my fingers.
"Does your friend have a pulse?"
"Yes, but it's faint," I reply with panic creeping back into my tone, "Please hurry."
"We've sent Paramedics to your location. They should arrive shortly."
