"Are you one hundred percent sure it's okay?" I asked frantically.
"I told you a million times! We're in college now, my parents said I can make my own choices!"
I sighed, "Thank goodness. This is going to be the best year of our lives!"
Ever since I was a little girl, my parents have always told me that once I grow up and go to college, they would travel the world. I suppose I never really believed it would happen, but as time drew nearer, it became more of a reality.
All of my things were now in boxes, life was moving just a bit too fast. My best friend, Kenna Olson felt the complete opposite. Kenna was ready to live on her own, in fact, she was looking forward to the day she could move out. She had everything planned out. She had a new apartment and a new job, playing the mature friend for the first time.
I, on the other hand, was scrambling. I had no place to stay, and really dreading the day my parents would leave.
Kenna was the first to jump at this opportunity.
"No parents, no rules, all fun." She would say, almost every day as a matter of fact.
The moment I told her I had no place to stay, she was eager to announce that she was looking for a roommate. I agreed to move in and now I guess that brings us to present day.
"I still cannot believe we are living together! This has been my dream for like, ever!" Kenna squealed.
"I know!! This will be SO much fun!"
Living with your reckless, party-hard best friend will definitely be a task, but a very fun one at that.
"It's summer! Let's live it up before classes start!" Kenna is always very energetic and in the mood to party.
I, am a bit more independent, but still love to have fun when in the mood.
After a long day of exploring our new home, I was more than excited to go to sleep. As I climbed into the cozy sheets I was alarmed by discovering another person in my bed.
I screamed as loud as I could, and Kenna, being the heavy sleeper as she is, never heard me.
"Who are you and what are you doing in my bed?" The strange person asked me.
"YOUR bed? This is my bed!" I said, while freaking out.
"Who are you!"
"The name's Nick."
"Wow that narrows it down to about a million!"
"I'm the brother of the owner of this house!"
"Funny because the owner of this house's brother is in military school, so back off hobo!" I said, reaching for my bat.
"Very funny, but I'm back from military school and I moved in here!" Nick said.
I reached for the light switch so I could see what was going on. I turned on the light and looked at the strange figure in my bed.
I went to yell at him but instead I found myself gazing deeply into his grey-blue eyes.
"What are you looking at?"
"Nothing," I said and quickly snapped my head away.
He had gotten his braces off and must have gotten contacts for his eyesight. He also definitely grew up. I was mesmerized. That was until, he became a total jerk.
"Now get out of my room, loser," Nick groggily said. I tried to fight him on the subject, but it was apparent that I would be sleeping on the couch.
Great, first my parents move away, now I'm sleeping on a rock-hard couch. Could things get any worse?
