Straightening my long dark brown hair over my 'death zone' I tried to cover it fully. Where my eye was, the death zone, it got hit in a fight and became infected, it was taken out when I was eight and always had covered it with my fringe. Mom never approved saying 'express yourself, you shouldn't cover what makes you, you.' I wish I could go back and never have got into that fight then my mom wouldn't have sent me to councilling sessions for my 'boistrous behaviour'. After the eye problem I was pretty much silent. People expected it to be because I dont have anything to say but when they ask me I come out with some smart-ass comment to turn everyones attention to something else.
Once I'd done my hair I was ready for school so ran down the stairs and out the door to the bus stop. I awaited the hell on wheels for a while but it was usually late in the awaking sunlight I saw the silhouette of the bus. I got on it with ease then sat at the back listening to my ipod with my feet resting on the seat infront of me. I was minding my own business until some random girl came to me looking at me like I was some shit on her shoe.
"Ew. Move this is our spot." She demanded putting a hand on her hip.
Move. You're breathing my oxygen.
"I'm fine here thanks." I smiled sweetly.
"I don't think you understand. There aren't any seats so you need to move."
There isn't much room on this bus because of the size of your ego.
"If there aren't any seats on the bus I better stop here so I have a seat." I told her dumbly.
"Yes but I am better than you. You are the dirt under a nail. Move." She commanded.
The space is getting smaller because now your head's growing aswell as your ego.
"Look. I couldn't give a shit if I wanted to. Whether you're better than me or not. I'm sitting here and so please move the space is getting small 'cos of the size of your ego." I told her getting annoyed with her demands. "Anyway, you should give up your seats for disabled citizens."
"You're disabled in the brain." She smirked until I pulled back my fringe.
"Yeah. Goodbye." I brushed my fringe back into place.
"That's disgusting." She stated appaulled.
"Bye." I told her putting my ear buds back in.
The bus finally got to school so I got off adjusting my dark blue skinny jeans and hoodie. I wandered into the yard seeing straight away my boy bestfriend, Andrew, people believe we're dating but we are just very close. I hugged him from behind, while he was talking to his friends, so he would notice me. His black hair, which in some lights was dark blue, flickered in the sunlight when he flicked it out his eyes;
"Some bitch tried acting all imposing on me. I kinda told her I was disabled showing her my death zone." I told him fiddling with my fingers.
"Don't do that April, you don't want more bullies. Come here." Andrew pulled me into a hug tightly with my head pressed against his chest, I hugged him back, enjoying his comfort. I never had a dad to care for me so Andrew's always been there for me.
My name is April Jane Smith, I, as you know, have one eye and a misunderstood emo. I live with my mom and my big brother, Ashton, who's in the year above me and stops me when I get into fights and stuff but we don't talk much. More grunts and gestures. My dad we left when I was fourteen because he was an alcoholic dick.
The bell rang so Andrew and I went into registration together, after registration we went to first period which was Art. We had to draw a portrait of anyone so I began drawing someone who I imagined up. The face popped into my head so I drew it. His longish hair flicked round his roundish face with big cheek bones and plump full lips, he was gorgeous. The eyes were two different colours which were bright blue and turquoise.
Suddenly Mrs. Bailey opened the door and told the class, "This is Dylan, he's new and you need to be kind. Dylan likes heavy metal and rock music so you would get along best with April and Andrew." She might as well have said go sit with the freaks where you belong by the way she looked at us.
He sat on the opposite side of the table where I got a good view of him, his longish hair was flicked across his face revealing his two different coloured eyes. Blue and turquoise. He smirked when he glanced at my work making me feel strange. Quickly I tore out the sheet in my artbook of his face then began drawing a different face. Dylans' eyes were on me constantly as he licked his soft plump lips every so often. I began sitting up and putting a slight pout on my face trying to look better although I didn't want to impress him. He annoyed me.
Next was P.E. so I left Andrew and Dylan who seemed to follow us about until I left to the girls changing rooms. I got changed covering my body as much as possible surrounded by bare, bikini ready bodies swaying round me. Once changed I left to go out onto the field dotted with the boys stretching and warming up for the unisex run, I spotted Andrews' outline through the heat waves, stood under the tree we always meet under in P.E. I walked slowly over to him (I don't run) until I made out another person with Andrew. Dylan. I began to jog, yes, jog, leisurley over to them keeping an eye on how I looked and tried deperately not to sweat.
"Heya," I smiled panting slightly and taking a sip of the water Andrew had with him.
"April, don't freak out but Dylan's coming with us." Andrew draped his arm round my shoulders.
"I won't be the one freaking out if he tells anyone about our little wander." I threatened Dylan subtly.
"I don't snitch." Dylan stated.
"Oh really?" I stepped forwards with my hands on my hips.
"Yeah." Dylan stepped forward looking down at me, at that moment we were stood very close until I stepped back.
"If you say so." I shrugged trying to act casual although in my head I was freaking out since the second Andrew told me not to.
Following Andrew we pushed through the bushes surrounding the school grounds then got out onto the streets.
"Beach?" I asked shrugging, I really fancied the idea of Dylan taking his top off.
"The cops would wait for us there... we could got to the coves though?" Andrew asked.
"Sounds good to me." Dylan tried to involve himself in the conversation although before he could involve himself we'd walked off into the direction of the beach with me smirking at him.
Once we'd got to the coves Andrew took his shirt off then his pants leaving him in his boxers until he bombed into the water from the boulder we were sat on. Next was Dylan who wasn't muscular but he was thin with shaping of muscles on his arms and a very large V line when he took his shirt off. I then sat on the rocks watching them instead of going in the water because I was worried I'd let my fringe fall away from my death zone.
"Come on April. You scared?" Dylan smirked up at me from the water.
"No I don't wanna get wet 'cos then I'd have to have a shower when we go back." I stated sitting on the edge of the boulder.
"Hm fair enough." He splashed me making me move my head quickly which, in time, moved my fringe off my death zone although I didn't realise, "Ugh April... what's with the eye?"
Realising I pushed my fringe over my death zone quickly then said, "Um I gotta go. Bye." I got up then left quickly with Andrew shouting after me. I ran. And ran. All the way back to school and joined everyone running. I was really cautious of my eye though or where my eye was.
As I was running past a line of hedge a hand grasped round my ankle and I was dragged into the bush quickly scratching past thorns. The hand was tight and I expected it to be an 'enormously funny' joke Dylan got Andrew to do. Although the woman stood infront of me wasn't the extremely hot man I hated.
