I awoke to the repetitive, obnoxious beeping noise of the alarm clock beside my bed.I hastily turned it off, and proceeded to hesitantly sit up and rub my eyes. I was stiff, my eyelids were heavy, and my entire body felt sluggish. I hated getting up early. Would it be that hard to let me sleep in just once?
Good morning.
Yeah, good morning to you too.
Glad to see you're in a good mood this morning, Ollie.
I was being sarcastic, Oliver.
I know, so was I.
I dragged my feet across the floor, out of my tiny room. Cautiously turning the piece of plywood propped in the doorway to make an opening for myself, I sucked in my stomach and attempted to slide through the doorway, but accidentally took too big of a step and my foot bumped the bottom of the door. I closed my eyes and gritted my teeth in frustration as I jumped to the stairs. I heard the sad, flimsy excuse for a door fall right where I was just standing. I sighed, and tried to take a step up the stairs, but my toenail got caught on a loose thread from the shabby carpet and I instead fell right on my face, with a throbbing toe.
What a great way to start the day, Ollie.
Hush. You aren't helping, Oliver.
Unhooking my toenail, a crawled exhaustedly up the set of five stairs to the much bigger upper story.
Must. Have. Coffee.
You know I can't.
Correction: You know you shouldn't.
Coffee is bad for me.
Not having coffee is destroying you! One cup won't hurt.
No, I will not have coffee. I am strong.
Ugh, I guess you'll be tired all day again.
I gave the coffee maker one last sad look and walked over to the window, where I always go, every morning. The Master was still asleep, as always. If this day was like any other, she would be up in about three hours.
Why are you wasting your time, Ollie?
What are you suggesting I do instead?
Oh, I don't know...maybe, escape?!
Oh my God. You bring this up every morning, Oliver! You know I can't!
Oh come on, it's been done in the movies.
I'll never be a hero like in the movies.
You never know for sure.
I'm not going to try, okay?
Ollie the coward. Now they'll never make a movie on you.
Leave me alone.
In case you didn't realize, I can't! You're stuck with me!
Well, stop talking!
Heh, good luck with that one.
I sighed, angry. Why won't he ever shut up with his high pitched voice? I can never concentrate on anything. He just seems to make everything worse.
You know, Ollie, the bad part about our relationship is I can hear everything you're thinking. Just because your voice is deeper doesn't mean you're better than me.
