I was about 10 or 11 when my sisters were born, identical twins. Jessica and Ryleigh's times of birth were just 3 minutes apart from each other. I was pretty excited I guess, until reality hit me like a freight train. My arms shook and my knees felt like they were going to give out as the newscaster slowly, yet shakily spoke. In the hospital room with my exhausted mother, joyous father, two sleeping sisters and a nurse, the tv spoke as follows: "I am sad to announce that just 20 minutes ago, on e-east boulevard", he began to stutter, the newscaster paused to regain his composure, "two cars crashed head on. A man and a woman were the fatal victims of this tragedy. The man died on impact and the woman's car caught on fire and exploded, she died three minutes after the man."
I saw the joy fade from my father's eyes as reality struck him as well. "There isn't anything we can do about it," my mother said, not looking up from my sisters, "they're here and we need to focus on them." My father smiled at my sisters, then at me. All I could focus on was my own breathing, counting my breaths making sure they were still there, still mine.AN/// hey! This is my first actual story I've published! Let me know what you think! I know it's short as FUCK but I'm still getting the hang of this.
