When I'm Gone

When I'm gone,

Who will come to my funeral?

Will people weep for me,

or stand there with a grim face?

If they do cry, would those tears

be truly meant for me?

...Will you be there?

When I'm gone,

Will they go on with their life?

Or will I fade away from their memories

like the sun disappearing over the horizon?

...Will you forget me?

When I'm gone,

Will they light a candle at my grave

and place bouquets?

...Will you be among them?

Will they remember me?

Will I be their courage?

Will I have a special spot in your heart?

...Will you allow me to stay there?

At the end of your death

Will I be in one of your flashbacks?

Will you allow me to stay by your bedside,

...Even if it means that your life will end?

Will you despise me that I stayed

Or will you be pleased that I was there?

Our memories might've spiraled into the sky

And maybe you would have succeeded in forgetting me

But I would never have forgotten you

I learned to forgive and love,

I forbade any vile emotions to come

I could never have hated you

...And love is all that matters.
