City of Heavenly Fire: A Mortal Instruments Fanfic

Prologue

Maureen had blood dripping down her face. Her fangs bared might just be for show, but Alec wouldn't take the chance. He frantically searched for a sereph blade and was disappointed when he remembered he wasn't coming for a fight, he was coming to see Camille. His stomach tightened at the thought. She was the reason his heart was shattered into a million pieces.

Maureen smirked from across the room. Alec had almost completely forgotten how old she would be. Only fourteen. Only a kid. Now she was nothing less of a murderer.

"No weapons, huh?" she grinned victoriously. "This is going to be more fun then I thought."

She lunged at him with such speed and force that he was caught off guard. He stumbled back and hit the wall. He couldn't run anywhere. He couldn't defend himself with anything. He was done for.

He scolded himself for being so weak. He was a Shadowhunter. Why was he giving up so easily?

Just then, a blue fire flew and hit Maureen. She stood frozen in her tracks. "Come on." Magnus said gruffly. "She'll be able to move in less then five minutes."

Alec shuffled out of the room, intending to follow the cat-eye warlock, but he was gone. Alec realized why he'd given up. He had nothing left to fight for. With a sigh, he headed for the stairs.

Clary walked into Luke's house and dropped her bag on the table. Jace had been doing well with controlling the Heavenly Fire. He hardly burnt her anymore. Brother Zachariah said he could be out of the infirmary by tomorrow!

She had been so exhausted from everything that had happened in the past few weeks, she was going to take a nap. But that was before she got a text from Izzy saying, "Emergency. Come quick." She hadn't even sat down for three seconds before she was running out the door again.

Hi! So that was my first chapter for my version of Cassie Clare's CoHF. I know it's pretty short but it took me a while to write it so...
Anyway if you like it let me know because I'm not really sure where I'm going with this and am open to suggestions! Also, I have the big question to ask all of you.
