OK I lied. I told you I wouldn't publish any of this till Born Killer was done, but I couldn't resist. So I decided to keep my promise and only post the prologue. I will start posting the rest of the chapters a bit after Born Killer is completed. Also, please look over any mistakes! I have yet to edit this chapter and I probably won't get to edit it fully until a few more chapters are out.

Adealia ran towards her village home, pumping her legs as fast as they would go. She was bringing grave, devastating news from her journey to the Irois tree.

Others ran along with her, determined to get their families out of the village safely. Her husband's cheetah, ran along side her and her eagle. He was currently at home watching their daughter Cecily. He had sent out Leonardo- her husband's cheetah- with her for protection against the ever nearing Osilo army.

-Adealia

I went willingly into the battle because Oliver's (my husband) injury limited him to stay at home. It was only some cracked ribs, but in sword fighting, the odds topple against you.

Renatuk, my eagle, had gotten injured dive attacking a grizzly bear. Of course the bear went down, but not without an injury on Renatuk's part. I had a hard time fathoming that only two mornings ago, a suitor had come to ask if I was still a maiden with the same exact warrior bear. Unfathomable I say.

I had taken Renatuk to the Irois tree, to heal him. When I got there, many were already there, mending their broken selves or animals. I had gently laid Renatuk on a stone slab, dipping only a finger into the Irois' nectar. I then thanked the gods for their healing hand and gently wiped the gash on Renatuk's talon with the nectar. It mended quickly, thanks to the spirits and Gods.

Unfortunately, an Osilo spy had trailed one of our own, alerting his army of the healing grounds.

The army was there in a matter of seconds. Their marching shrieks filling the air. They burned our tree to the ground while we all ran to evade their attack and run to our families. All of our own made it out luckily, but it was paining to see our gift from the Gods burned to the ground by the creatures from the underworld itself.

I reached the wooden door in my small hut, Leonardo and Renatuk right behind me. I swung open the thatched door and ran inside.

I found Oliver cradling my precious Cecily.

"Thank the Gods!" I cried out, running to my two beloved's. "We have to escape now, while we can." I hurriedly replied to Oliver's bewildered face.

I grabbed my last two vials of Irois nectar, a gift from my mother. I wrapped a wool blanket around Cecily and packed a few necessities. A bow and a quiver of arrows, a sharp blade, bread and corn, a wooly blanket, a shiny rock from my grandmother, supplies to make arrows, and tunics for both me and Oliver.

I put the satchel on my back, giving the bow and arrows to Oliver. I filled three waterskins to the brim and put them around my waist. I took Cecily from Oliver's arms and starting humming a lullaby to her.

We ran out the door, Oliver and Leonardo in front. The army was approaching fast, so Oliver had to shoot the runners who were out front. Thankfully, I packed a full quiver of arrows and supplies to make more, because he was shooting them down quickly, using arrows up by the second.

We finally reached the Western Woods, opposite to the evil creatures, and we ran long and hard.

We took few stops along the way to my sister's safehut underground, rationing our food carefully. Leonardo and Renatuk went out as a team together, scouting and hunting for themselves.

We reached my sister's safehut at last, 1,000 stone squares away from my burning village. Along with our burning Irois tree. Safe from the army, but soon to be in devastation from the news to come.
