Laina's POVMy eyes shot open my breathing was jagged, I need to stop having these nightmares. I laid down a little bit longer eventually looking out the window. Holy merde it's early, I look over at X's bed and roll my eyes, "Of course he never went to bed, that Brit." I said under my breath so I didn't wake up Carter. I slowly got up and got dressed making my way to the laboratory to see what Xavier was up to.
"Why are you up so early, shouldn't you be getting back to bed?" X questioned.
"How come you never went to sleep and didn't go to bed?" I fired back, earning a glare from him.
"Nightmare?" He asked with his eyebrow raised.
I sighed "Yeah..."
"Are you ever going to tell me what they're about?"
"You're a Brit I don't think you deserve to know,"
"Frog legs,"
"Roast beef,"
"Can't we put our cultural differences aside and organize things?"
"That depends if you're willing to cooperate," I said walking over to a desk that I claimed as mine and began sorting through papers. I could practically hear him rolling his eyes at me but he didn't say anything else.
I eventually got bored of organizing and got a blank piece of paper, a pen and a pencil and began drawing.
~~~~timeskip to morning~~~~
Now everyone was awake and ready to take on the dangers of the apocalyptic world. That is all except Carter. Carter is Xavier's son, he's five years old and loves it when I tell stories and illustrated pictures for him to color. He often calls me Auntie instead of cousin which I don't mind I honestly prefer it.
"What are you drawing?"
"The Eiffel Tower and Big Ben, why?" My nephew just shrugs and continues to clutch his stuffed bear.
"Can I see?" He eyes always held that little spark that could just make you happy instantly. I nod and lift him up on my lap (Your sitting on a table).
"This is so cool, Big Ben looks kind of like it's melting." His comment made me us both erupt into a fit of giggles.
"What are you two doing?" Xavier asked looking up from his work.
"Look at what Auntie drew," he hops off my lap and onto the ground safely then jumps up to grab the notebook and holds it up for him to see. Xavier picks Carter up and rests him on his hip examining the doodle.
"How do you do this so quickly?" He asked obviously impressed by my AMAZING art abilities. I shrug.
"Un simple Xavier magique," I said just to annoy him.
"Ugh you and you're French,"
"Ne pas insulter notre nom de famille,"
"I'm not insulting our famil- you know what I don't even care," he said. Carter giggled and made his way back to me.
"I feel like you love your Aunt more than me," Xavier said looking at Carter who only shrugged.
~Time skip~
"Yeah he totally loves you more," Jess said.
"I don't know I guess I'm just that magnifique," I said sassily flipping my hair over my shoulder.
"Every time I hear you talk I can't get over your accent, it's so unique I love it."
"Why thank you."
Major Gray's POV (I know finally XD)
"It's really cloudy, what do you think the chances are of it raining? Do you think we should call off the run for a little bit? And see if it gets any better?" Nick asks.
"Yeah we should wait, it could be even more dangerous when it's raining and really dark," I agreed.
"Hey guys, what's the game plan?" Jess said as she walked into the room with Laina.
"They are obviously going to wait it out, look outside it's going to rain." Laina concluded.
"That's exactly what we were going to do. How did you guess that so quickly?" Nick asked.
"Scientist instincts," she simply said taking a seat next to me. Jess looked like she was about to explode.
"Jess are you ok you look like you're going to explode," Laina and I ask at the same time. We pause and look at each other before facing Jess.
"Um yes I am perfectly fine, you all just don't understand!"
"Surrreee," Laina put a hand on her hip and look Jess straight into the eyes.
"Gah stop doing that, it's like you're starring into my soul."
"Puh-lease that's not even scientifically accurate,"
"You're weird."
"Thanks." Laina replied with a smirk.
Laina was perfect, she had long blonde hair that cascades down her shoulders. Beautiful dark blue eyes that you could get lost in, she's smart and funny, kind and always knew what to do to make you happy. Overall she was just perfect, and over the years we became really close friends but I've always wanted to be more. I didn't know what she would think so I never told her...
