Young Justice: Broken

Chapter 4

M'Gann's POV

The trip back to Mount Justice was a long one. Garfield was bouncing with excitement ever since we were attacked. He doesn't fully understand why we were attacked but then again, no one does.

I couldn't help but laugh as we pull into the cave. Garfield was in awe upon meeting Red Tornado, sphere, and Wolfe. Robin and Aqualad go to the training room to report to batman while the rest of us help Garfield unpack.

"You know I could probably get this done in seconds." Wally says.

"Well then, go for it, but how do you know where Garfield wants all his stuff?" Artemis asks in a confident tone.

The two quickly begin bickering. The argument quickly escalated and before you know it they take off to spar in the training room. Zatanna and Rocket look at each other and sigh and chase after them. Probably so they don't kill each other.

The rest of us stay behind and continue to unpack.

"Do they always fight like that?" Tula asks. Garfield looks at us with the same question in mind.

"Yes..." Conner and I sigh in unison. They both laugh, but Garfield quickly gets sad.

"Hey are you ok? Garfield talk to me." I say. He continues to stare at the picture of him and his mom.

"I know, I miss her too." I say pulling him into a hug." How about after we finish unpacking we go to the boardwalk at Happy Harbor. "

He looks up at me with his green eyes and smiles. I pause for a brief second, the confusion written all over my face. How long had he had green eyes? Weren't they blue.

I shake it off quickly and stand up continuing the work.

When we are done we all change into something more suitable for going out.
As we are walking to the exit, Red Tornado calls Conner to talk.

"I'll catch up with you guys in a minute, go have fun." Conner says.

"No offense, but I still need to familiarize myself with the mountain. I'll see you later!" Tula says leaving me and Garfield.

With that I switch transform into Megan, and Garfield bounces more with excitement. Since the boardwalk isn't too far from the mountain we decide to walk there.

Walking through the town I point out all the restaurants, ice cream shops, candy stores, and every other place I have been too that he would enjoy.

"There! Right There!!!!! Is that the boardwalk!?!? Can we go on the Farris wheel?? The tilta whirl (that thing that spins you around) What about games!?!"

Laughing I say," We can do whatever you want! Let's do the Ferris wheel last though because the line looks pretty long."

"Ok, and then superb- I mean Conner will meet us when we get off right?" He says looking around, checking to see if anyone noticed the small slip up.

"Yep. That sounds about right! Let's go!"

Garfield chooses to play a ring toss game first. He missed the first time and seemed a little disappointed. He has to get two rings on a bottle to win a prize.
I may have helped him win with my telekinesis...

Garfield picks out a green stuffed lion and smiles at the stuffed animal. With a twinkle in his eyes he runs over to the cotton candy stand.

Before we knew it we had breezed through every game and ride and we were ready to face the Ferris wheel. Conner still hasn't met up with us yet which worries me a little. I know he's ok I just wonder.

Garfield pulls me to the Ferris wheel and we zoom through the short line. We go up, and up.

"Wow... This is so cool. It reminds me of the harbor my mom once took me too..." He trails off suddenly sad.

I pull him into a hug." It's going to be ok Garfield. I promise."

He sighs but perks up quickly and points to the shoreline." Look! Look! They have water shows here?!?"

I dart my head into the direction he points to. Oh no. They may be far away but I can tell who they are.

"Garfield those aren't performers those are- " I am cut off as the troops reach the boardwalk and begin causing mayhem. In the madness the Ferris wheel abruptly stops jerking us around. We were at the top.

I quickly reach into my pocket for my team communicator. The mountain wasn't that far, but it was far enough to put us out of range of the mind link.Hoping that the signal won't be intersected I call the team.

"Miss Martian to team! Does anybody hear me?!" I say glances at the chaos below.

"Me'gann? What's wrong?" I hear Conner say.

"Superboy alert the team. The boardwalk in Happy Harbor is under attack!" I frantically say.

"Who is attacking?" Red tornado asks over the com.

"I am almost positive it's Black Manta's troops. They came from the water. Garfield is safe but I am going to stall for you guys as long as I can."

"Don't worry Me'gann we'll be there as soon as we can. Five minutes tops!" Conner says.

I shut off my com and glance at Garfield. He looks back at me with both excitement and fear.

"Garfield I will set up a mind link between us, but I am going down there to try an slow down the troops. The rest of the team will be here soon."

He simply nods, caught up with the moment. I transform back into Me'gann and fly out of the wheel and into the fight.

I must have caught the troops off gaurd because they yell in surprise when I touch the ground. I send seismic waves with telekinesis towards the troops. They all go flying back.

Before they can recover I grab a group of civilians and encourage them to run. Once safe I return my full attention to the baddies.

Now they seem more ready to fight. They pull out guns, swords, but what worries me most were grenades. A few troops threw some grenades in the air and I willed them to fly away from the boardwalk toward the ocean.

I notice troops taking cover. Were they expecting the explosion to be closer.

"Me'gann look out! Behind you!" Garfield yells over the link.

I quickly turn around to see one troop running away and a grenade running toward me. As it explodes I fall to my knees, and I notice it wasn't a normal grenade.

All it did was start a fire. Fire, my weakness. Slowly I feel myself lose consciousness, but not before I see troops walking towards me ready to kill me, and Garfield fall from the Ferris wheel.

Ooooo cliff hanger! What?!?!? I know right! Sorry if this chapter is all over the place. I started it months ago and haven't touched it until now so it may be off. This story should get going now but I need more support to feel motivated to keep going. So please share comment or vote! It means a lot!
