"Rukey! It's almost my ninth birthday, I need to do something around here. Besides, it isn't fair if you don't get a helping hand while you work; you hardly get a couple of yen and it's only worth it when you work on weekends. I don't want to lose you too! Please just give me a job, for a day, even; see how well it goes at least! You need this Rukey!" Flynn desperately begged his brother,
"F-flynn, you don't know that; We could really do it, get a shiny! That'd get us through the whole year y'know? Feed us, clothe us, pay rent! We'd be set. Don't make this harder than it already is..."
His reply was the same, just worded differently like always, thought Flynn, who instead just huffed.
"You always say that Ruko," murmured Flynn under his breath, "You always just say it!" This time in a violent shout, "It's not about the shinies or the money, Ruko, it never was; it was about you! I never talk to you anymore because of this hopeless war, because of the horrible rations and the hard, long work. I just wanna talk to the real you; the Ruko that played with me and loved to take care of the farm; not this one who never has a minute free!"
Ruko took a minute to process his brother's outburst, then, finally, stood and hugged his small brother's shoulders, and whispered something that seemed to make Flynn stop tensing and shaking, "I promise..." He whispered with a trembling voice, "to be here, for you, Flynn..."
Now Flynn wrapped his arms around Ruko's chest and held on firmly, "no more work, right? Y-you promise, Rukey?""Flynn, I...I promise..."
