"It's so boring!"
Penny flopped onto the sofa beside Brain, who nodded as he continued reading his newspaper. She sighed as she realised that Brain wasn't going anywhere, he couldn't be budged when he was reading the news. She got up and pulled on a coat as she headed out the door. Life was sure boring with Uncle Gadget out of town, leaving Penny stuck home without a mission. She was almost beginning to miss Chief Quimby's crazy antics and mission reports. Pulling out her Codex, she tried calling Kayla, but nobody picked up. Not even my best friend is around, she thought. Missions gave her thrill and excitement, and also a chance to see her evil crush Talon, although she'd never admit it.
She walked down the streets studying the row of quaint little shops and busy people walking by. Maybe she could check out the library? Nah, too quiet. How about the arcade? Nope, too noisy. What about the supermarket? I already bought a week's worth of groceries yesterday. Penny caught herself wishing that a crime would happen.

"Stop in the name of the law!" The police officers chased the boy as he ran down winding alleys and streets. He was much faster, boots pounding on the concrete as he sped past curious onlookers. Suddenly, he came to a dead end.
"You're under arrest, kid!" The officers caught up to him in a while.
Smirking, he simply remarked. "See you around, boys!"
With a blast from his rocket boots, he cleared the eight-foot-tall brick wall effortlessly. Landing on a sleek motorbike, he pulled on his helmet and revved the engine. Speeding off into the distance, he blended in with the busy traffic. Blaring sirens could be heard in the distance behind him, and he picked up his pace. As he rounded a corner, he almost crashed into a blonde girl.
"Hey Pretty Penny!" Talon yelled.
For a moment Talon thought Penny looked glad, even excited, to see him, but the expression vanished in a moment. "Talon! You could have killed me!" she yelled back. The sound of sirens was getting closer, and Talon sped off.
"No time to talk Pen!" Talon shouted. "See you around!"
"Wait!" Penny yelled just as two police cars rounded the same corner in pursuit of Talon on his bike. Penny was glad some excitement was finally showing in her life. She fetched a metal sphere from her pocket and tossed it to the ground. It expanded into a silver rocket-powered scooter that she hopped on. Penny zoomed off after Talon and the police cars.
Talon tried everything to shake off the police. Finally, he swung into a narrow alley after rounding a corner of busy traffic, hoping that the police didn't see him. As he looked over his shoulder, he sighed in relief when he saw nobody was following him anymore. However, he failed to see the pile of lazing alley cats in the middle of the alleyway, and he had to make a sharp left to avoid hitting them. Crashing into a dumpster, he flew off his bike and landed on his side. His bike bounced against the hard concrete floor and skidded to a stop beside him.
The sound of sirens. Talon winced in agony as his arm throbbed in pain. He couldn't move his right leg, so he pulled on his bike with his other arm and leaned up against the walls. The sound of sirens faded into the distance. His tried to see the extent of his injuries, but his arm hurt when he tried to move it, and his leg throbbed with pain. Oh no, Uncle Claw is so gonna kill me!
"Need a hand?" Talon looked up in shock to see Penny staring at him with skepticism.
"I don't need help!" Talon growled. "Especially from you!"
"Too evil to be helped, huh?" Penny grinned. "I guess I'll just have to leave you here for death or your imminent arrest, whichever comes first."
"No, wait!" Talon called after her reluctantly. "I guess I could use some help."
Penny smirked as she picked up Talon's bike. "Looks like your bike could use some fixing."
"Thanks for the reminder, Captain Obvious," Talon sighed. It was his favourite and fastest motorbike, it would take months of saving up to replace it. Penny proceeded to help Talon up, much to his reluctance. When he tried to apply pressure to his right foot, he yelped.
"No more smart remarks?" Penny asked the usually witty Talon.
"I would be talking your head off if it wasn't for my totally busted arm and leg," Talon rolled his eyes so hard they almost popped out of his head. "Why are you even helping me anyway?"
"So once you heal, I can take you to HQ," Penny said. She didn't reveal that the real reason for helping Talon was because she couldn't stand to see her crush in pain. "They'll love you there."
"I'd rather die than go to HQ with you," Talon grumbled. Secretly, he was actually glad to see Penny. She paid no attention to his grumbling and pulled him to his feet. Wow, his hair gel smells really nice!
"Try to stand a little pain, evil one," Penny advised. They hobbled out onto the street, Talon's bike would have to wait in the alley until a later date. Talon refused Penny's offer to call for an ambulance, so she hailed a cab instead. With nowhere to take Talon, for he didn't want to reveal the secret location of his uncle's loft, Penny had no choice but to take him to her house. Talon could barely walk, and he had to hold in screams of pain when his foot touched the ground. Penny brought him into the house and flopped him onto the sofa. Brain came out of the kitchen and when he saw Talon, he arched an eyebrow at Penny.
"It's just for a while, before Uncle Gadget comes home," Penny explained. "Then I can take him to HQ."
