"He's crazy protective huh?" I asked him.
"About you, of course. Who wouldn't be? Mind if I come up?"
"Yeah sure."
He walked towards the stairs. I shook my hands again, trying not to appear nervous. But the weird thing was, even though I was a little on edge about thin, I was willing to talk to Andrew again. Maybe make a better impression and hopefully get rid of the weirdness I felt towards him because of that horrible dream. I didn't want to blame anyone for my issues.
"Everything ok with the computer?"
"Oh yeah," I turned to him. "It's preparing the desktop."
He nodded and sat on the arm of the chair. After a moment he crossed his arms, looking down at the floor. I could tell he was thinking. I sat behind the desk, waiting.
"Could I ask you something?" He asked.
"Sure."
"Do I... make you nervous, or make you feel uncomfortable? I mean, I don't want to seem weird to you."
Yes. "No, I don't think you're weird. I just haven't been very social with people in a while. I should be the one asking you that question actually."
He looked at me, "No, I don't think you're weird either. I think you're..." Then he looked down.
Was his face red?
"You think I'm what? Shy?"
There was a few seconds before our eyes met again, his face was slightly red but his expression was that gentle one again.
"I think you're very beautiful. But..."
Now my face was red hot, I had to look away, biting my tongue. I didn't want him to think that about me.
"But you're Carlos' daughter and yes you do make me nervous."
"How?"
He sighed and pushed his hair back. "It's nothing really. I just want to be here for your dad. I'm always willing to do him a favor."
I nodded. "Well thanks."
I drummed my fingers on the desk, staring at the computer screen to avoid looking at Andrew. There was a tense silence, that type of quiet where you know you should say something, but you don't. The computer had finished installing and the clear sparkling new desktop shown brilliantly.
"It's all done." I said, sighing.
Andrew stood and walked over to lean on the desk beside me. He then opened iTunes and downloaded a song I didn't recognize. I just sat back watching. I picked up his scent, it smelled very nice, fresh but also a faint wift cologne. His arms were very tanned and his muscles flexed as he held his weight.
"Your dad loves Rascal Flatts." He said.
A song began to play that I had never heard before. He downloaded about 3 more songs while the one played through.
"Who's your favorite band? Or singer?" I asked him.
He turned around and sat on the corner of the desk. He crossed his arms and thought for a moment. "I guess Ed Sheeran would be my favorite."
I tucked my lips into a line, my eyes narrowed. Andrew laughed softly.
"Never heard of him?"
I shook my head no. He pushed back his hair, still smiling.
