"Elettra, Elettra please just listen to me!" Dario's voice rung out. Anger boiled under my skin. Again he had thrown the promise of freedom under my nose and again he had taken it away. Tension in the labs had increased since my military programme was uploaded, it's as if they wanted me to be a failure. Ever since the project began in 2305, I've been reminded that the ultimate goal was for me to become a mechanical soldier. To be able to resist the gas, radiation, and bullets of opposing armies. It became increasingly important for me to be completed as populations began to dwindle from exposure, and those lucky enough to be in the vaults became unwilling to be subjected to the war above ground.
"You swore that this time you would let me above ground! That I would be able to finally do what you made me to do. But like always you and the team are keeping me for experiments again. I'm done being poked and prodded like cattle going to the slaughter house Dario!" I screamed as he neared me, but as soon as the words left my mouth I could see the pain they had caused him. Maybe I wasn't ready after all.
