"A revised history of the four founders"
'Useless information after useless information. That's the only thing I found in that stupid book. I knew more about Slytherin and his heritage than all the books in this library. Why would Dumbledore advise me to read it, if it's ab-so-lute-ly useless?! I seriously can't think of any reason to waste my time. I had better things to do. I could be helping him right now, instead of breathing all this dust. What the heck? Why am I still here?'
I was tired of yelling in my head. I got up and put all the books back in their place. I didn't find anything new about my family. There wasn't even a chance because only a handful of people knew the truth. And those people weren't thinking of writing it down anytime soon.
I knew the story pretty well.......but I didn't want to think about it. It was too painful. And too vivid in my mind....
In any case, after wasting two hours, I left the library. It was obvious for me that I wasn't going to get answers any time soon. So, in the mean time, I could as well be having some fun, right? The Christmas ball was approaching, and although most of the school would leave to go home, there were still a few that didn't want or couldn't leave. Luckily for me, I didn't have to dress up for a night spent with other loners.
As I got back to the dormitories, I was greeted by Hermione, who asked me if I felt better than I did that morning. I tried to assure her that I was fine, but I don't know how convincing I was. What I knew would make my day better was seeing those grey eyes again...
Unfortunately, I missed lunch. But honestly, I wasn't really in the mood for social interaction. And in my head, I could eat more at dinner, so that would compensate. So I decided to take a nap, a really short one. As I was alone in our room, and I think that there was no one else in the common room, I slept in a pair of shorts and a short top, but not before turning up the heat a bit.
I was half asleep, when I heard weird noises near me. But I couldn't quite pin-point the location from which they were coming. So I tried to open one of my eyes, as slowly as I could. In the dim light of my lamp I saw a human figure, sitting on the armchair opposite my bed. I just assumed it was Hermione, coming back from wherever she had been. I said, with a husky voice:
"I'm sorry about this morning.....you shouldn't have seen that. It's just that.....I usually have bad dreams, so I'm not really affected by them anymore......but nightmares catch me off guard. When I was little, my dad used to sleep with me. That way, he kept my nightmares away......I used to think that he was my knight in shining armour........I don't know why I'm telling you all this...." I yawned. "Wake me before dinner...."
And as I closed my eyes again, I could see Hermione shifting a bit in the chair. But I was already far away in Dream Land.
I was awaken by Hermione's laugh outside my door. It seemed like she was talking to someone. I waited a few seconds to see if she enters, but she didn't. And then she left. Part of me wanted to sleep some more, but I knew that I wouldn't sleep very well that night already so I got up. As I went to the window to try to see what time of day it was, I bumped into my nightstand. There layed a piece of paper. On it was written with an exquisite caligraphy:
"In happy dreams I hold you full in night. I blush again who waking look so wan; Brighter than sunniest day that ever shone, In happy dreams your smile makes day of night."
