Anya Lee: (voiceover) We all have a story. Some are good, some are bad, some long, some short. That doesn't mean we tell them, though. And if we do, that doesn't mean we're telling them in entirety as well as honesty. What's your story? If you're the defensive type, you might be asking what's mine. Well, let's just say I have trust issues. You wanna know how it happened? Of course you do, we all do. You know how I know? We're all the same. We want to know everyone else's story but only to forget our own long enough to believe we don't have one. And we'd never wanna tell, anyway. I met a boy. We talked, we became friends. We started hanging out, we became best friends. We hooked up, we became friends with benefits. But then the sun came up and reality kicked in. And it was a whole new story. I told him that. I remember that day so well. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done.
Flashback.
Anya Lee: (taps Layn's shoulder) Hey, can we talk?
Layn Allen: (looks from Anya to friends rapidly twice; stammers) Yeah, sure. Just gimme a sec.
Anya Lee: (nervously smiles) Okay, I'll be at the spot.
Layn Allen: (nods) Okay.
Anya Lee: (walks away slowly; voiceover) I started walking away, but slowly because I was so out of it. I usually walk pretty fast. But that day, I didn't. I heard him. He said it. He hurt me. He broke me.
Layn Allen: (chuckles cockily) Yeah, it was awesome. She was so sexy, but she was still so needy. I wasn't complaining, though. (chuckles) At least not that night. But when I woke up, she wasn't there. It was just another one night stand with another thot I thought was different. (sighs) But I guess you never really know a person, even if you've felt like you've known them forever. But then again, we just started talking last year. I used to have a crush on one of her best friends. I still do, though. Just not the same one.
Anya Lee: (walks slower; voiceover) He could've said anything, he could've told anyone and it'd be okay. But he told his team, his entire team, including Stephen. My crush who's a senior, while I'm only a freshman, just like Layn. That was the moment I realized I lost my best friend and he didn't even know it. But he'd figure it out when he got to the spot. I continued walking as fast as I could and never looked back. (walks faster) I went to the spot and waited. (places backpack on picnic table) Almost instantly after I leaned on the oak tree where we built our tree house, he appeared. (leans on oak tree)
Layn Allen: (places backpack on picnic table beside Anya's; walks to Anya) Hey, An. What's up?
Anya Lee: (stares deeply into Layn's eyes) I met a boy. We talked, we became friends. We started hanging out, we became best friends. We hooked up, we became friends with benefits. But then the sun came up and reality kicked in. And it was a whole new story. He fell for my best friend and I regretted every second of the night before. No one deserves that. Never my best friend. She deserves to be happy. How could you?!
Layn Allen: (looks at Anya nervously) A, what're you talking about?
Anya Lee: (screams; paces back and forth twice; stands in front of Lany) I'm talking about how you used me for my fucking body and didn't care one bit! I can't believe you like Winter! Winter Waters, my best friend! (pauses; eyes start to water) And you took it.
Layn Allen: (looks at Anya taken aback) Took what?
Anya Lee: (freezes in place; widens eyes in realization of her confession)
