Me Myself and Cry

I stared at my reflection in the mirror my hair had recently been dip dyed blonde causing the ends to go dry I sighed at my reflection and got dressed for school I knew what would happen they'd continue bullying me and Jane because she was a lesbian
Unlike Janes girlfriend Maya who had gone undetected as a lesbian Jane wasn't so lucky
I always felt sorry for Jane
She tries to hide her scars
She does
But I've seen them
Her self harming scars
Her life is a lot harder than mine
We all used to be friends

Alex, Kate, Jane and myself
Kate died 2 years ago in a car crash Jane was the only one who survived her Janes Dad was picking Kate up to sleep over at Janes
The brakes had been cut
No one knew who or how this happened
The car tipped the petrol leaked the car had exploded with Jane barely escaping with 2nd degree burns along her chest, neck and arms
After Jane lost her dad and Kate she got severe depression and was stuck in a mental hospital for 2 weeks who gave her anti depression pills she never took them they made her head hurt

A year later she told me me and Alex she was gay instantly after the words came out of her mouth Alex ran out to gossip soon the whole school knew causing Jane to get bullied she already got bullied for the scars along her arms and neck from the burns

And 3 months ago her 12 year old sister fell out a second story window paralysing her she can no longer talk her mother couldn't look after her so she sent her to a home for disabled children

And Jane and her mother have never got along she always was a daddy's girl

I stare at jane lying asleep on my floor I decided to have a sleepover see how she was doing

I stared at her arms at not just the burn scars but the individual slits crawling up her arms the few on her legs

Eventually I woke her up I always got up early so I could watch TV in the mornings Jane always slept in the people at school say it's a "lesbian thing" and laugh at any girl who sleeps in

I stare in envy at Janes hair Jane is pretty her hair is black with blue highlights she covers her eyes in dark makeup although she has beautiful eyes she hides her self harm scars but doesn't mind people seeing her burns although st summer they are visible at winter she covers them in warm coats I stare st her enviously but grateful my life isn't hers
