Riker rolled off his partner with a happy sigh, lost in a post orgasmic haze. "That was great." He said, looking affectionately at the man lying unmoving next to him.
"I'm sure it was." He said dryly, still not moving.
The smile was slipping from Riker's face as he looked at the man. He reached out to cup his cheek, turning his face towards him. "I missed you, Tam."
There was no emotion in the cool grey eyes as they gazed back into the pitiful blue ones. "I'm sure you did." The slightest hint of irritation edged the bland tone. Tam sat up, wiping spit off the kiss marks on his chest with distaste.
Riker opened his mouth to speak, looking hurt, but there was pounding on the door.
"Time is up. Pay for more or get out. Tam I want you back on the floor." The gruff voice of the Master said.
Tam almost looked relieved as he paused in the mirror to straighten his short black hair. He pulled the long embroidered robe off the floor and drew it back on, tying the sash loosely.
He was prefect, no flaws, unless you count the hickies Riker sucked on his chest, just smooth skin, perfect body, exquisite features. Like a dream.
He cast those blank grey eyes back onto Riker before he left the room. "Leave the door open after you leave. You know what to do." And was gone.
Riker flopped back onto the rumpled sheets, feeling miserable. Another months rent he could never get back. If he was going to fall in love with a sex robot why couldn't he fall for one who faked enjoying his company.
Feeling dejected, he dressed and left, making his way down the stairs past the other perverts and lonely people on their way up with artifical men and women, whom all looked more than happy to be sex workers, like their current partners where going to be the best they ever had.
"Thank you, sir, come again." The door guard said, opening it for him and giving him a stern look. Riker gazed in longing at the brothel window where Tam and half a dozen others were sitting, flashing skin, or in Tam's case, glaring, at passers-by. Heaving a heavy sigh he walked away down the darkening street, back to the main road.
He didn't have money for a bus, so he walked the whole way back to his shitty apartment, in the worst part of town, where his power was turned off because he didn't pay this month so he had money to buy Tam for an hour. His stomach growled loud and he was reminded he also didn't have money for real food. A cup of white rice again tonight...joy.
Riker found his door was unlocked when he reached the top floor. The lights were on when he walked in, along with the best smelling greasy fast food he'd ever smelled, and the most wonderful human being he knew, TK. Riker could have kissed them.
They were looking at him over top of glasses, arms crossed, long brown hair pulled back out of their eyes. "You, are the most irresponsible person I have ever meet in my entire life." TK said, tossing the bag of fish and chips to Riker.
"How, in any hell, can you justify spending your money on a metal hooker, when you are living on rice, and with no electricity, barely scraping enough money together to pay rent on an apartment that doesn't have a shower or a stove!!" TK yelled immediately, laying into Riker as he quickly stuffed the food his friend had mercifully brought him, into his mouth. It was the same speech, more 'fuck this' and 'What the fuck' that, but he'd heard it before.
"Just answer me why? Why do you do this to yourself." TK said, cupping Riker's face in their hands and glowering at him.
"I'm lonely," Riker started.
"Then buy a dildo like the rest of us do, or go to the bar and pick someone up to fuck in the ally!"
"I don't want a meaningless-" Riker was cut off again as TK gave a shout of humorless laughter.
