Holding On

Aria's POV

  "The Band concert after school is at 3:15 please support our hard working students." Played over the announcements.

  Takashi looked at me and asked "Are you going to be in it?" "I will but I'll be in the back so you won't be able to see me." 

  I said "Who said I was going to there to see you." He smirked. I quickly hid under my arms and to cover my smile and flushing cheeks.

  My Math class was a bore in contrast to this morning. I wasn't used to people talking to me unless they were starting a fight.

  So I felt my self hungry for more social interaction With Takashi for the first time in awhile.

  I wondered what classes Raina took. As the bell rang signaling the end of the period I glanced around while walking the hallway for her, I didn't want to let this opportunity slip by I will make some friends!

  As I walked past the theater I heard a vaguely familiar voice. "To be or not to be that is the question." I looked over and saw it was Raina.

  I watched her move gracefully across the stage reciting each line perfectly as if she had been all her life. I could see some girls in the rows pointing at her.

  "Im so glad she left our table at lunch. She's trying way too hard, she is so fake." One of them sneered. I wanted to tell her off but I didn't have the courage.

  Isn't she supposed to be fake, it's called acting. It's something you're not good at because you can't even hide your jealousy. I wanted to defend her but I couldn't and I was going to be late for band so I left.

I walked into the band and everyone was already practicing for the concert. I already knew all the music already and the teacher called a free day so I just read a book. I like to read about romance like girls whose life is almost perfect and they have small struggles but everything turns out okay.

I looked up at the clock and noticed that class was almost over in a few minutes. So while the teacher wasn't looking I snuck out and headed for the Bathrooms.

On the way I could feel tears building up in the corners of my eyes. I longed for a life where I was popular and had lots of confidence.

My mom would always tell me that popularity isn't everything but I think she is just trying to cheer my up and cope with the fact that her daughter is a loser.

After that thought tears started streaming down at an accelerated pace and the world looked blurry. I headed for the most likely direction of the bathroom and ran into someone.

"Eww get off me!" I knew exactly who it was. Insert long string of profanity here. "Sorry" I mumbled and tried to get out of her way. "No, wait a minute it's you the looser with big ears."

  And she pointed at me. "My ears are regular sized, yours are just deflated." I mumbled really quietly. "I can barely hear you, you're just like a mouse." She snickered

"Shut up." I said just barely audible. "What?" She said confused. "I said shut up! All you do is torment me."  At that point I was high off Adrenaline.

  My fists were clinched and I tried to imagine I was somewhere else and not ruining my life. The only solution to this was to run away, so I did.

I ran into the theater and saw that Raina was still preforming but the girls who were talking about her earlier were gone.

  I decided to sit in the rows to cool off and watch. I took out my earbuds from my pocket and started listening to music on my phone.

  It went perfectly with the cool and peaceful theater. The bell started to ring so I tried to sneak out of the theater before anyone saw me. "Aria come over here!"

  Crap I turned around and it was Raina. I breathed a sigh of relief, good thing it wasn't a teacher.

"Did you see me theatering?" She said. "I saw you on the stage, you are really talented." I shrugged. "That's really embarrassing, whenever I get up on the stage I become entranced and I forget everything around me."

  She said while making large hand gestures. "It's like when when you're watching a really good show and forget about everything around you and really emphasizing with the characters."

  "Actually never mind it's nothing like that." She continued rambling and at one point she invited me to go over to her house after school. I was really hesitant because we just met but she was really eager and I didn't want to say no.

I decided to go outside during P.E. but instead of running with everyone else. 
I glanced around for an area to lay under and saw Takashi sleeping under a tree. I was hesitant to walk over there but he was in an area where none of the teachers were.

  I sat down beside him and saw his face while he was sleeping, it was really peaceful. Suddenly my cheeks started to heat up and I turned away. I felt something warm on my hand and I looked down, Takashi apparently moved in his sleep and his hand was touching mine.

  My heart beat started to pick up, I didn't want to wake him up so I left my hand there.  When I looked around to see if it was time to leave yet I felt Takashi's hand grab mine and hold tightly.

  My heart rate skyrocketed and I looked at his face, I saw his mouth slowly rise into a smile. I immediately realized what was happening and pulled my hand back. "Ehhh?!?!" I said and he opened his eyes, sat up and started laughing.

  His expresion looked really playful so I couldn't stop myself from laughing too. "This isn't the time to be flirting with your girlfriend Takashi hurry up it's time to go!" One of Takashi's friends said.

  Takashi and I both looked at each other then awkwardly looked down.

I sat down at my usual spot at lunch
But this time with Raina. I had spring rolls today. "What types of show do you watch?" She asked me "I don't really watch TV."

  I said with a mouthful of half a spring roll. "I like American shows, Anime and Spanish soap opras." She showed me her phone case that had a picture of 2 guys one with grey hair and another with glasses and black hair.

  I didn't know who they were at all. "When you come over I will show you the magical world of TV." She exclaimed.

Takashi is living Aria lots of firsts I wonder what others he will add to the list 😏

This chapter is not edited as heavily as the others so there are probably lots of mistakes. But I really wanted to post this one! Hope you enjoy, I'll fix the mistakes later.
