Florida

The plane ride was quiet. About an hour into the three hour trip Allen started to get anxious. He couldn't be blamed for it though. He was in a crowded flying machine-unfortunately he had gotten used to the quinjet and its large amount of free space-with no way of knowing exactly what was happening in the cockpit. Allen could have used his powers to eavesdrop but it would knock him out (Note to self: Training drills when I get back.) and he wanted to be awake when he got to Florida.

Correction. If Allen was anything less than 100% awake and alert, Alex would send him to the hospital. That was a threa- promise. That was a promise.

Threats aside, Allen was excited to go visit Alex in Florida. He'd been there once before (with Spike on a trip but he'd gotten the chance to hang out with Alex) and it was a blast.

Alex was, for lack of a better word, fucking rich. Her family owned some kind of restaurant chain that started in south Florida and had gradually expanded into parts of the U.S. Allen didn't know the name of it. Alex never told him and he was never really all that interested.

Anyways, Alex was rich. It's not like Allen was poor, or making minimum wage. Spike got paid pretty well (Allen know understood that S.H.I.E.L.D may have had a hand in it) and Allen had a bank account with money the government gave him on behalf of his parents. No, Allen was really well off compared to other people. Alex could literally afford to buy a few Iphones and give them away. She did. Allen was still in shock.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the plane landed. Allen went through and proceeded to make his way out of the airport as soon as he could. Outside he stood, suddenly afraid of what Alex might show up in. She might show up in a limo, or some expensive car that would have Clint drooling all over it, or, knowing Alex, an elephant.

Allen was already feeling hot. Florida weather was already incredibly hot, to the point that their winters stayed well into the 60's on a cold day. He knew it would only get hotter as the week continued.

He walked to the area where he'd be picked up and waited, he checked his phone but there wasn't good signal at the airport. So he stood there, awkwardly. In his true pale tumblr teen fashion. As usual getting stares because of his hair. The occasional compliment or snide remark by some people.

"Allen!" Oh god. Please don't be a limo. Please don't- It was a limo. All eyes were on him as he was tackled by a tall, tan, blonde haired girl. She was dressed in a pair of denim shorts and a tank top that said 'Sea WEED' (She knew Allen hated it.) and a pair of flip flops. Allen stumbled before hugging her back.

"I'm going to kill you what the fuck, Alex." She laughed, light and happy.

"You are in so much trouble you fucking idiot. Nearly got yourself killed." She was smiling innocently as she spoke in a hushed tone, to everyone else it may have seemed like a couple reuniting or something strange like that. Allen bit his lip. This is gonna be hell.

Out of the corner of his eye, something flashed. It seemed familiar but it put him on edge. Subconsciously he move himself in front of Alex, facing her, his back to where the flash came from. Allen's hands were twitches to materialize a weapon of his. (Natasha seemed happy to hear Allen could pull a weapon from nowhere. Well, as happy as Natasha could seem.) He didn't know of it was a gun he saw, or his paranoia taking over.

"Allen. Allen, are you okay?" Alex grabbed Allen's arm and pulled him along with his luggage to the limo. Allen wasn't responding he was analyzing, taking in information from the shadows around him. Allen knew it was an overreaction but he wasn't in New York. With the Avengers a phone call away, and friends who were also well trained and capable of keeping themselves safe. He was in a different state, unable to fight back because of his identity and Alex was defenseless.

Alex pushed him into the limo.

"Allen, you're scaring me. Your eyes are red."

What. Allen shook his head roughly.

"Sorry... sorry. I'm-" Allen's phone went off. 15 text messages. 4 snapchats from Lavi. Three missed calls. Allen ignored it.

"What happened? You freaked out."

"I saw something flash, could've been a gun or... I don't know. I'm kind of jumpy."

"Why?" And so came the moment Allen was dreading. He told her everything. From the moment he saw Tony Stark be thrown from Stark Tower to the kidnapping.

"So, the people who grabbed you are still out there?"

"Yeah, I don't think they want to hurt me though. They were just hired to capture me." And they called The Avengers. Allen knew that they didn't have to.

"Alright then." Alex punched him in the chest.

"Okay," Allen said rubbing the attacked area. "I may have deserved that."

"May have? May have! Dude, you didn't respond to me for three days before I was ready to call the cops. I was worried."

Allen apologized again, and spent the next hour telling her about the small things. His powers to an extent, the training, the boyfriend. The conversation ended up dying off after a while and they spent the rest of the drive to her vacation house in pleasant silence, watching old superhero show reruns.

Ding

Fuck!

Allen whipped his phone out and checked, he had 19 text messages now. A few from each avenger except for Natasha who'd simply sent a sad face emoji. He'd replied to each of them, assuring them that he had arrived safely. He avoided telling them about the issue at the airport, he didn't want to go to therapy.

Then he called Spike. The phone rang twice before he picked up.

"Kid! You made it!" Allen laughed lightly, relaxing as he heard Spike's voice.

"Yeah, flight was boring too. Made me kinda paranoid."

"That's not good when you aren't... ya'know, out."

"I've been out since middle school." Beside him, Alex had just snorted so hard that the soda she was drinking went out her nose. Allen chuckled, as he rubbed her back.

"You know what I mean, smartass!"

"Yeah, yeah. I'll get myself together. I'm probably just jittery from the flight and what happened last week." Allen felt Alex squeeze his shoulder. It was comforting, but Allen didn't know why felt like he'd needed that.

"You'll be okay, and if you aren't-"

"Who's gonna kill me?" Alex choked besides him. "My boyfriend or the Avengers."

"Your guardian."

"You counted when I said Avengers."

"Technically you and I aren't Avengers. Nor Lavi. The avengers are the ones that do paperwork and stuff. We get out of it."

"For that, I'm eternally grateful."

"You have anything planned?" Allen asked Alex who just smiled devilishly.

"Uh, Alex is just smiling so I'm assuming that we do have things planned and I'm not gonna like them." Spike laughed loudly.

"Good luck. Alright kiddo, have fun! Text me every once in awhile."

Allen smiled and said his goodbye. Opening up snapchat to laugh at the series of snapchats Lavi had sent him. He took a snap of Alex and him smiling and sent it.

'Finally with the real bae' Alex snorted as she saw him type it.

As they neared their destination, Alex's vacation house in 'The Keys', Allen saw another flash of that similar blonde hair. Oh, come on.

Allen, however, didn't notice the car trailing him since he was picked up at the airport.
