*Shelby's POV*

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

I've been hearing that same beeping noise for five minutes now and it only got louder with every passing moment. Where was it coming from? I don't know, but I had the scariest dream last night. I dreamt that I left my journal in my classroom yesterday and then passed out in my room from looking for it so hard. I'm more than relieved that wasn't real because I don't know what I would've done if I'd really lost it. Honestly, I'd probably kill myself. And I'm sure that sounds really dramatic, but I can't imagine having to go through school knowing that there is someone out there, possibly more than than just one, who knows about everything I write and the secret I've been keeping for four years.

"You're friend's under a pretty heavy anesthesia, but I'm sorry to tell you that she's in terrible condition?"

That sounded like one of Ariel's soap operas that she likes to watch on Saturday mornings. Wait what? It can't be Saturday cause yesterday was just Tuesday. I slowly opened up my eyes, to make sure I was in my bed and not on the floor in some bathroom again, but my eyelids felt extremely heavy and I was only able to open them up to a squint. Everything was blurry and when I tried to sit up to see Ariel, I couldn't. My entire body was numb and there was nothing I could do to let her know that I was utterly incapable of moving any part of my body and at that I started to freak out. My heart was beating excruciatingly fast which made the beeping I've been hearing increase in speed and get louder, and within a matter of seconds I felt a pair big strong hands hold down both of my arms and that only scared me more. I heard a male voice that I didn't recognize as well as the occasional voice that belonged to a woman and soon my eyes were opened a little wider and when I saw where I was at I lost it.

"She's going into cardiovascular shock! I need everyone who's not a doctor or a nurse out of here now! Nurse, get the phenobarbital to calm her down."

"Yes doctor."

What was I doing in the hospital? What is cardiovascular shock? And what in the world is phenobarbital? I couldn't think of anything else as those three question were swarming in my mind. Were they trying to drug me? I couldn't move, so it's not like I was going to escape or anything I just wanted to know how I ended up strapped to a hospital bed with IV's stuck in my arms. My heart was beating faster than it had ever before and after ten minutes of hectic convulsing and heavy breathing, the only thing to be heard was a drawn out 'Beeeeeeeeeeep' until it was pure silence.

*Post Death*

There was a big bright white light shining in my eyes in the middle of the darkness that I was standing in and I had to block it with my arms so that I could open them all the way and see where I was. Wait, that's weird. I was able to lift my arm without hearing bones crack. And all while I was walking down a pitch black, narrow road, into the light, my knees didn't buckle and I didn't feel light-headed at all. It was, nice. I don't know where I'm going, or even where I'm at, but for some reason I couldn't stop walking. The light was getting closer and closer with every step I took and I wanted to know so bad what was gonna be there when I reached it, so miraculously, my legs started picking themselves up off the ground higher than they've been able to in about a year and a half and my body was now propelling forward at an impressive pace. I stuck out my arm to reach the light even faster and right when I was about to touch it a hard electric shock in my chest pushed me back and knocked me down. I got back up, clutching my chest, and I was back at trying to reach that light. Now I was even more determined to get there and when my chest had stopped hurting I started jogging towards the white brightness once more, but again, as I got closer to it another electric shock shot through my chest and this time it was a lot harder. I stayed back for a moment holding my chest and trying to catch my breath and then I looked up from my current hunched position to see how very close I was to the light and I stood straight up one more time because this time I was going to reach it. I looked almost directly into the luminous glow and I started sprinting as hard and as fast as I could. I was so close to it and I couldn't help the smile that shone across my face and I reached my arm out to touch it, but right as I was about to fully engulf myself in the light and finally see what was waiting for me behind it, that painful shock in my chest returned and this time the light disappeared.
