Tick Tock
Goes the lonely Clock
Hung above the large bookcase
Every day goes by
People live and they die
But the Clock, it stays in one placeClock strikes one
And ev-er-y-one
Gathers around to see
The newborn child
In his chair, he smiled
Up to look right at meClock struck two
And like a statue
The child took his first few steps
He walked like a pro
Though he could not let go
Of his parent’s motherly graspClock strikes three
And out was he
To his first day of Preschool
I felt so proud
This kid was bound
For a future, he was no foolClock strikes four
And through the door
Walked in another small child
With many a toy
Did play the two boys
‘Til the sun’s color was orange and mildClock struck five
In a room so alive
With much music, dancing, and food.
His parents walked in
The child jumped out of his skin
For they had ruined the moodClock struck six
The child came home with
A girl about his age
Well dressed was he
And so was she
Though the child came back in rageClock struck seven
The child talked of a wedding
Concerned looked the mother and father
Convinced him no
But the child had to let go
So he finally stood on that altarClock struck eight
And he seemed to be late
For wherever he needed to go
The parents looked sad
But the child not so bad
As he walked out into the snowClock struck nine
And at the dine
There was no father, only a strange vase,
Alone was I
Hung up high
Above the large bookcaseClock struck ten
And only then
Was I moved by the loving mother
She packed me up
And put me in the trunk
Of the car, and we drove away to a place some other.Clock struck ‘leven
The child in depression
From the event with his father
Times were bad,
Everyone was sad
And counting every dollar.Clock struck twelve
The child grabbed a helve
On life and the situation
There was a baby
And the child looked happy
As if he’d found a safe haven.Tick Tock
