Chapter One

My heels click on the concrete floor as I pace beneath the net. This is my first year training initiates with Tobias and I can't wait. Eric says that we will scare the living daylights out of all of the newbies. And all of our friends have taken to calling us "the terrible ten". Tobias thinks it's funny, but it just annoys me. The name "Tris" has become to Tobias what the name "Tobias" is to me. Now almost everyone in the dauntless compound refers to me as "Six", Tobias as "Four" and us as a couple "Ten". All of that aside however, I am delighted to be the new Mrs. Eaton. Armed with my new ring and six inch hells that finally make me as tall as my husband.

"Hey" he whispers. I turn around and kiss him until I hear someone clearing their throat.

"Okay, you little love birds." Eric snaps, "They're about to jump." I turn away from Tobias and his dreamy eyes.

I soon hear a scream and a thud. A skinny abnegation girl dressed in grey lands in the net. I reach out to help her up.

"What's your name?"I ask.

"Anne." she says with a smile.

"Welcome to Dauntless, Anne." As soon as I pull her off the net, another transfer drops onto it. I look away from Anne and gasp in shock.

"Daniel?!" He was a year under me in school and was always trying to kiss me. He was from Candor.

"Beatrice" He reaches out to hug me, I step back. I see Tobias tense up.

"It' Six to you." He says stepping behind me and protectivley putting his arms around me.

"And you are..." Daniel asks Tobias sternly.

"Four." He snaps, "Six's husband." Daniel looks at me angrily.

"Bea- Six! Why? You ahd so many options and you chose this one! I'm only a year yonger than you! Why didn't you wait for me?" I turn to walk away. "Don't you walk away from me woman!" I spin on my heel and punch him in the face.

"Get away from me, idiot!" I scream at him. I tap Tobias, who is busy with other initiates, and run back to the apartment.
