Chapter 7

(The concert)
*Joey POV*
We just finished sound check and we still have an hour or two before the show. The girls decided to go shopping before the concert so us guys are just hanging out. Chad and Caleb are playing card games and Spencer and I are watching.
"Vous êtes prêt pour ce soir (you ready for tonight)" I ask
"Ouais. Je suis juste un peu nerveux. Et si elle dit non?(yeah. I'm just a bit nervous. what if she says no!)" he says
"Elle ne me fera pas confiance.(She won't trust me)" I say
He nods and we go back to watching the game play cards.
"Chad you need to play that card" I say
"No" he says
"Beidh Caleb bua mura bhfuil tú.(Caleb will win if you don't)" I say
"joseph stop cheating. ní féidir liom gá do chabhair.(Joseph stop cheating. I don't need your help)" he says
"avete la sorpresa pronta?(do you have the surprise ready)" Caleb asks
"Guys please stop. You're confusing me and giving me a head ache" I say
"Alright alright." Chad says
"Oh and Caleb yes" I say
"Why does Joey look like he's in pain" Kelsey asks
"¿Estaba comunicándose con los chicos de nuevo?(we're you communicating with the guys again)" Sofie asks
"¿Cuántas veces tenemos que decirle que no lo haga? Usted consigue dolores de cabeza de él. idiota.(how many times do we have to tell you not to do it? you get headaches from it. idiot." Jewel says
"Por favor, deja de tener un dolor de cabeza y no me quieres tener más miserable de lo que ya estoy.(please stop i already have a headache and you dont want me getting any more miserable than i already am)" I say
"Sorry babe" Jewel says
She kisses my cheeks and sits next to me cuddling into my side.
"Mr. Joey do you want a hug" Trinity asks
"I would love a hug sweetheart" I say
She runs over to me and gives me a hug.
"Hey trim how about you show Chad what we got you" Fallon says
"Ok" Trinity says
"I'll go with you so you aren't walking off alone" Sofie says
Sofie and Trinity walk off and we start talking.
"How is the adoption process going" Chad asks
"It's hard. We've had to do a lot of paperwork. We can't even get it really finalized till someone checks out our house and that could take days or weeks" I say
"How's Trinity doing at your house" Jewel asks
"Good. We've definitely gotten to know her a lot better." Fallon says
"That's good" Caleb says
"Wait where's Katy and Emmett" Spencer asks
"Oh they're in the strollers asleep" Kelsey says
"Babe you sure you're ok? I can get you some Tylenol or something" jewel says
"I guess I'll take some ibuprofen" I say Jewel gets up and walks off she comes back and hands me two pills and a bottle of water. After a couple minutes Trinity and Sofie come back and Trinity is wearing our merch.
"You look beautiful" Chad says
"Thank you. Mr. Joey what do you think" she asks
"Absolutely gorgeous" I say
"Alright guys we better pray then get started" Caleb says
Us four guys huddle together and pray. We put in our in ears then run out on stage.
"How you doing tonight Nashville" I yell
The crowd yells back.
"Glad to hear." Chad says
We start the concert and we finally get close to the end.
"Alright so before our last song we have our family members here with us would you like them to come out" Caleb asks
The crowd cheers again and everyone comes out but Sofie. I hand my mic to Jewel and Spencer does the same and we go backstage.
"Hey Sofie why didn't you come out" I ask
"I'm not family" she says
"Yes you are baby girl. And not only because you are Jewels sister and Joey's sister in law but also because you're my girlfriend. So come out with us" Spencer says
"Alright" she says
We go back out and Jewel hands Spencer and I our mics and I also take Katy from Jewel.
"Nice if you to join us Sofie" Caleb says
"Why thanks for inviting me in the stage Caleb Andrew Grimm" she says
"I'd watch what you're saying Estrella Sofie Ortega Hernandez" Caleb says
"Alright cut it out" Chad says
"How about we sing our last sing that us guys dedicate to our wives and girlfriend" I say
The crowd cheers and we start the Aladdin mash up.

We finish singing and the crowd cheers and Spencer starts talking.
"Sofie from the first time I saw you and you were always hanging out with Joey I was jealous. I wanted that to be me. I wanted to be your best friend. Eventually Joey found out about this and him and Kelsey set us up and we both had fun. We shared our love for bowling, Taco Bell, and Krispy Kreme. And I want to be able to share that love and those memories for ever so Estrella Sofia Ortega Hernandez will you marry me" Spencer asks
Sofie starts crying but nods her head yes. They hug and Jewel just glares at me. "Thank you Nashville. Have a great night" I say
We go back stage and Sofie takes Katy from me.
"Joseph Patrick Stamper" Jewel scolds
"What" I ask
"Hey joe thanks for helping me" Spencer says
"No problem" I say
"Now where was I" jewel asks
She goes to speak again but I Lee her and she kisses back.
"That sure is one way to shut up a feisty Mexican" Chad says
I chuck my shoe at Chad and it hits his face.
"Thanks Joe I've always wanted a shoe." Chad says
"No problem" I say
"Chaddy I'm sleepy" Trinity says
"Alright. Let's head home then" Chad says
Chad tosses my shoe to me then picks Trinity up. The Graham's and Trinity leave.
"Well we better head out. Emmett is asleep" Caleb says
"See ya" I say
They leave and it's just the four of us and Katy.
"Hey Jewel why don't you and Sofie head home so you can get Katy in bed. Spencer and I need to finish up a few things here and a few things back at the studio. We'll be there soon. We'll just have them both sleep over" I whisper
"Alright" she says
I give Jewel the keys and she goes over to Sofie. They walk off and Spencer and I head to the stage to clean up. As we're cleaning we hear a noise. We look up and don't see anything. We go back to working. All of a sudden we hear a crying noise.
"Alright what's going on here" I ask
"I don't know" Spencer says
We get up and start walking around. By the entrance there's a box. We look in it and see a bundle of blankets, a baby, and a note. Spencer looks at the note and we read it.
"Dear whoever is reading this, this is Carter Duke. He doesn't have a last name. The orphanage is too filled and there was a kid who needed a room there more than him. I saw there was a car here and thought that since this is a church maybe he'll get a good home. His biological parents are gone. The mom died during labor and the father committed suicide right after he gave him up. Please take care of Carter and give him a home. The adoption papers are in the bottom of the box. Just sign them and drop them off in the office if the orphanage listed below. Thank you so much, Sunny Side Orphanage" Spencer reads aloud
"What are we suppose to do" Spencer asks
Carter starts crying and I pick him up. I rock him and he stops crying.
"How old is he" I ask
Spencer looks through the papers.
"Five days" Spencer says

"One of us guys has to take him" I say
"Alan and Caleb cant" Spencer says
"You and Sofie don't have a place together yet" I say
"Could you or Chad take him" Spencer asks
"I'll have Trinity and Katy" I say
"What about Chad" Spencer asks
"Fallon and Chad don't want a child." I say
"What are we suppose to do then" Spencer asks
"We take him home and I keep him for now and we figure it out a day at a time and then we'll decide in two weeks." I say
"Ok" Spencer says
We go back to what we are doing and finish quickly. I pick Carter up again and we go to Spencer's car. I sit in the back so I can hold Carter at Spencer is driving.
"We should stop at Walmart on the way home and get the essentials" I say
"Alright" Spencer says
We get everything we need then head to my house. Spencer carries the bags and I carry Carter and my guitar case. Spencer opens the door and we go in. "Hey guys we're here" Spencer says
"In the living room" Sofie says
We go to the living room and the two give us weird looks.
"Joe why are you holding a baby" Jewel asks
Spencer gives them the letter and they read it.
"Did you guys come up with a plan" Sofie asks
"What makes you think we have a plan" Spencer asks
"Of course you did. You two together gets scary" Jewel says
"Alan and Caleb can't do it and Chad and Fallon don't want kids. They are fine with Trinity because it's just temporary. If they had kids they wouldn't be able to go on the sporadic trips. Spencer and Sofie can't really do it because one they aren't living together yet and two I don't think they'd be able to handle that much responsibility but me and you don't really have room. But for now he's going to stay with us until we figure something out but he's staying in the family" I say
"Now that's a plan" Sofie says
"Thanks it was all Joey's doing" Spencer says
"We knew that" jewel says
"Wow thanks" Spencer says
"Well we better all head to bed" I say
We all go upstairs and those two go to the guest room and we go to our room. I place Carter in the middle and then lay down.
"Love you Jewel" I say
"Shut up Im tired" she mumbles
I laugh and kiss her cheek then lay back down. I close my eyes and drift off to sleep.
