Vanessa's laugh echoed throughout Buster's a local diner that Chaz, Ryan, and herself would occasionally visit after school or during their free time. Since it was Saturday it was slightly crowded. Apparently Guitar Dude was fond with Chaz and Ryan. How and to what extent was still foreign to Vanessa but as Justin parted ways with them, sapping the boys up and simply glancing at her earlier this morning, she knew they were aware of each other.

"I'm serious. He tripped over midair." Chaz stated chuckling ever so lightly.

"I did not." Ryan growled, his fingers fiddling with the straw in his strawberry milkshake.

"Did too, you dipwhit." Chaz joked, as he stuffed fries into his mouth. Vanessa covered her mouth as she continued to laugh. Ryan's eyes wondered around the diner, trying to avoid Vanessa's eyes, just like he did a few hours ago when they were sitting at Chaz's kitchen table.

Vanessa's laugh faded after a while. As she settled down, she played with the fries in the middle of the booth.

"You stuck your foot out moron." Ryan stated, shaking his head and chuckling slightly. He still scanned the diner. Chaz abruptly put his hand up in defense.

"Don't blame it on me. Sometimes you gotta put your left foot in it." Vanessa hardly smiled as those words came out his mouth.

Ryan

From the corner of my eye I lazily watched Nessa play with the fries we ordered. I felt differently about her, after what she said when I was released from detention. I wondered why it took her so long to apologize. I didn't want her apology though, fore it wasn't her fault that we weren't as close of friends as we used to. It was her dad's. Her father didn't approve of me. He never did. I don't blame him though, all I do is drink and sleep and whatever may fall in between the two that don't meet his approval. He believes  I'm a bad influence, a drag if you will. Sure, I don't have much going for myself at the moment. I'm an average student however, I do have goals that I eventually plan to achieve.

Nessa isn't the one to follow rules but if it involves her education and if her father is present than it's a different story. Lately, I've felt neutral around her. I don't hate her; it's just a mutual feeling, I would assume. I was still her friend in a sense and when I saw her fall into Dwayne's pool last night, I had to help her. Especially since I couldn't have stopped it. However, she's my friend, my best friend at that, but she  pushes me away constantly, so much that it's almost a routine. Even though, I did help her at the party, it didn't change too much. Our friendship is almost unbalanced. She's bipolar and I'm just not good news for her, according to her father that is.

Ryan sighed as he took a sip of his drink and stood. As he did so Chaz and Vanessa gave him a questioning look. Abruptly he stuck his hand in his left pocket and grabbed his wallet. Ryan slowly opened up the faux leather wallet and threw down a five dollar bill; which happened to land near his milkshake.

"Where are you going?" Chaz asked, slightly confused on why Ryan was leaving.

"Home."Ryan, bluntly stated, his eyes locking with Vanessa's. Her throat began to feel dry as he did so. With that, Ryan left, leaving Vanessa and Chaz confused.

Keeping:

Very short chapter, I know.

It was a filler to show you how Ryan feels about Vanessa and their unstable friendship.
