Joslyn and Mia were still driving. They were going to a location unknown to Mia. Joslyn refused to tell Mia where they were going.
Joslyn had also refused to show her face, but she promised Mia that she will see once they get there. They have been driving for two hours.
Mia had calmed down once she found out that Joslyn didn't really mean harm. She was still very curious.
Mia looked over at Joslyn, who had been silent for about 20 minutes. She wanted to ask so much.
"... why did you need Midazolam..?" She said to the other woman quietly. Joslyn was quiet for a second. "I need it for my gun." She says, "I dip the bullets in the medicine and so when I shoot someone, it'll run through their bloodstream. That'll make them lose their memory after they wake up if they survive."
Mia was utterly shocked. She knew that this woman had been in deep trouble, but she had never realized that Joslyn was actually going as far as making people lose their memory through a bullet. She must be hiding something.
"Who were those guys back there?" Mia pressed on, determination running through her blood to find out this woman's secrets. Joslyn pauses before answering, "My ex boyfriend and his henchmen. They are like this gang that I used to be a part of. They call themselves The Sour Apples." Joslyn laughs for a second, "They just cause disturbance everywhere and do anything they can to get drugs and money. When I was still a part of that gang, Roy spoiled me beyond belief. He would get me all this jewelry and makeup, every expensive dress. It was pretty sweet. But then.." She pauses once again. She takes a shaky breath and pulls down the bandana covering her mouth. "But then he killed my brother, Ford... because he wanted me to get away from Roy. Needless to say, later that night, I snuck out and ran away. They've been looking for me since then."
Mia was silent as she listened to Joslyn's story. She was utterly devastated that Joslyn had to go through that, not even being able to imagine how painful it would be.
"Why didn't you go to the police?.." Mia said quietly. Joslyn chuckled, "Because in wanted, too."
The two stayed silent for a while. Mia was thinking to herself about the person that had just saved her life. She was shocked about the events leading to this.
"Mia.." she had said quietly. Joslyn looked over at the girl. "What was that?" She said confused. Mia looked towards Joslyn, "My name is Mia.." she said a little louder. Joslyn looked back on the road, a small smile on her face. "I'm glad that you're finally starting to trust me." She said with a tone of relief.Another hour has passed and Joslyn had drove the truck into a wooded area. She drove up the path way, then suddenly stopped in the middle of the path. She pulled into the wooded area, off the path and a little ways into the woods. She then stopped the truck and took out her keys, officially turning off the car. She told Mia to get out of the truck and follow her.
The two walked for a while, Mia having difficulty walking in the cold since she didn't have her jacket on and was wearing a skirt. They had finally reached a small clearing with what appeared to be a small shed. They walked up to the shed and stood in front of it.
"Whelp, welcome to my humble abode." Joslyn said cheerfully. Mia just looked at the small space with a confused face. How could anyone live in a house his small?
Joslyn walked to the door and opened it, waiting for Mia to walk in first before going in herself. Her entire room looked like a normal shed - tool boxes, benches, and shelves lining the walls. There wasn't a bed or anything to assume she was living there.
Mia then heard the sound of someone dragging a heavy object and looked towards the noise. She saw Joslyn moving one of the shelves to reveal a door. She opens the door to reveal a sideways stair case. It did seem smaller in here than it looked outside. She was told to go downstairs to her living area while she got stuff from the truck.
Mia walked down the stair and immediately noticed how roomy and neat it was. There was enough room for a couch and a small tv, a kitchen area, and even another door leading to where she assumed the bedroom or a bathroom was. Mia decided to sit down on the couch and wait for Joslyn to come back.
A few minutes later, she hears the door open and close upstairs then again on the door leading downstairs. Joslyn walked in holding bags full of perishable food and hygiene products. She was sure she even saw bullets in a bag. Joslyn went into the kitchen area, Mia's vision of her being cut off by a wall.
"Saved a life today! Better celebrate... Let's make pancakes for lunch, whoo!" She said loudly and happily. Mia laughed slightly under her breath and got up from the couch to walk slowly to the kitchen area.
As soon as she got there, she noticed one thing. The hood is down and the bandana is off. Mia was freaking out in her head as she silently inspected Joslyn's features.
Joslyn had very straight blonde hair with pink highlights in it, despite her own, which was completely dark brown. Joslyn's skin was pale, almost white, but also smooth, Mia's being on the darker side, as she was partly Hispanic. Her face, Mia noticed, was caked with makeup and fair looking. She has a strong oval jaw line. All in all, she was beautiful.
Joslyn noticed Mia standing there in the doorway, "Hey, new friend, want some homemade pancakes? Trust me, yes you do." Joslyn said with a smile as she got out the pan and pancake batter. Mia found herself wanting to stay in this life for a little while just to see this everyday.
