Pulling the dark material of his sweater over his hands and stretched, attempting to ease his nerves. It was completely irrational, of course, but it seemed to be worse than ever. He had just woken up, for seemingly no reason, with her on his mind. A half hour before he was supposed to wake up, completely off schedule, yet he felt like he knew that he had to see her.
Even after asking for her hand in marriage, he felt like he hadn’t told her how much he liked her. He hadn’t said enough. Nothing could satisfy his love.
He could remember the exact second that she stepped through the front door, the one moment in time that he’d first seen her. At the time, they were complete strangers, just a family friend and a boy who tried his best to behave himself.
Now, years later, after their family had become closer, after she had permanently moved to the country, after their lives had settled around one another, he knew that he was nothing without her. She was his life; his happiness.
Soon, their family members would go back home from their break early, and it would be just them and two rings in her home. He had plenty of opportunities to get used to being with her. If they were going to get married, they would have to be more comfortable alone, not in a crowd of family like they usually were.
This is normal, right? He slowly walked across the living room, frowning to himself as he anxiously pulled on his sleeves. Passing the striped furniture, not even paying attention to his surroundings. His gaze was centered around the pin door in front of him. He just has to suck it up and go in. Let go of his pride and admit that she’s the first person that he wants to see in the morning. He just has to open the door.
I've been standing here for five minutes out side of her door, it’s not normal.
What should he use as a reason to go inside? Maybe he’d left something in there. He’d need an object to pretend he’d lost.
Shit, wait. It’s fine. It’s fine. It’s completely fine. They’re engaged. Maybe the news hasn’t settled in yet, but they’re still together for good, now. That means that he doesn’t need a reason to go and see his fiancee. He can walk in her room and kiss her just as he’s meant to. Because it’s normal.
He can admit to it now. The door shakes underneath his knock, but he gets no sound in return. Taking a deep breath, he quietly opens the door, poking his head inside before he takes his first step in.
It looked different, somehow. The paint was still pink, the pillows were still covered with frills and the windows were still filled with flowers, and the girl lying in the bed was still young, but it seemed more mature.
It seemed less childish, more grown up. The air in the room was still, making him afraid to breath too loudly, aware of how his chest was rising at a rapid pace. Now his heart was beating wildly while he looked at her.Get it together, Taehyung!
