"Casey, honey," I heard my dad yell from down stairs. It wasn't a big house so he didn't have try very hard. "Casey, if you don't get up now, you'll be late for school."
I sighed and looked at my clock. I had forty minutes until I had to leave. I had just enough time to take a quick shower and dry my hair. By the time I was done with my usual routine I was staring at myself in my full-length mirror. My long blond hair was wavy and down to my mid-back. My make-up was done lightly to show off my tan skin. I took note on the find a tanning salon somewhere in town. I was where my typical outfit. I loose, gray cardigan with a white tank-top. I was wearing black, skinny jeans with my combat boots.
I smiled with a satisfaction and grabbed my bag and headed out the room.
"I'll be late tonight, honey," My dad must have a night shift tonight. I guess I'll be ordering dinner.
I nodded at him and went to my car.
"One day, Casey, you will have breakfast," my dad called out.
I called over my shoulder, "Don't count on it, dad."
The drive to school wasn't bad. We lived in the middle of nowhere so there weren't very many stop lights or signs.
Once I was at school I instantly recognized some of my class mate even though I couldn't put a name to their faces. I looked around to the different groups as I walked through the parking lot.
I heard a whistle so I turned to find the group of jocks I saw yesterday. "Looking good, Casey," how did they know my name? The comment came from the boy with the curly brown hair that was with Daniel. I think his name was Even. It was then that I saw his stomach get elbowed hard by none other than Daniel.
Daniel smiled at me, "How are you, little bitty?"
I narrowed my eyes at him and just kept walking. I heard Evan speak again in a lower voice, "Is she?" He didn't say anything else.
"Yes," was Daniel's response.
I quickly found Carly who was with Julie by a water fountain.
"Hey, Casey," Carly greeted me.
"Hey."
"There's a party on Friday if you want to come," Carly told me.
I smiled at her, "What kind of partying do you all do?"
Julie laughed, "I imagine it's a little different than New York parties."
"But still fun none the less," Carly added.
"Alright," I nodded to them.
Just then one of Daniel's friends, Kyle, came up to Julie and stuck his arm around her. He placed a soft kiss on her forehead. I smiled at how cute that was.
Julie laughed, "Kyle meet Casey, Casey meet Kyle." She gestured to me. "Kyle is my... boyfriend."
I nodded and smiled at him, "Nice to meet you."
Kyle looked over at me. He looked me up and down and then smiled, "Likewise."
"KY," We all turned our head to see Daniel strutting down the hall toward us. He smirked at me which I instantly rewarded him with an eye roll.
"That's bad for your eyes, little bitty." He slung his arm around his shoulder.
I pushed his arm off, "What is?"
"That thing you constantly do with your eyes. It's like a twitch or something," He laughed.
"Asshole," I muttered.
