We sat on the outskirts of the city, the lights began to rise up above the horizon and I lent down further on my knees. Several of the sentinels laid out at my feet, three of the kills were mine and I had the tags hanging off my arm. "Clarke, tell me, what do you see out there?" I pointed over to the government building. "I see all of the guard, probably two hundred outside and two hundred more inside. Our objective should be inside though." I nodded and signaled my group of one hundred to creep forward. We spread out, covered more area and charged forward at once. They were taken aback, fear crossed their eyes and they struck out, lashing their blades uselessly. I sunk one of the thin blades into a woman's throat and pulled her tags away as she fell back before flipping my body around and elbowing another in the helmet. It shocked through my arm and it reverberated through making my arm jerk back forward and scratch me with the knife. I whirled around and plunged my knife down the back of the helmet and pulled the tags away. "Clarke! Take it round to the top!" She nodded and we both began scaling the wall, all the way to the tenth floor and crashing through the thick glass window. I rolled through the shards, standing and taking down one of the sentinels. We rushed down the hall shoulder to shoulder and busted down the double doors. They ripped off the hinges releasing a puff of dust and the murky smell of old wood. The president sat in the center of the room, face stoic and he uncrossed his legs and leaned forward.
I pulled another blade out of my pocket and tossed it towards him. It entered his throat, eyes wide and deep red blood squirted from the wound when he pulled the knife out. "It doesn't end with me. I'm not the only one. You only have the eastern sectors." He cackles and leans back with his eyes closed. The knife dropped from his hand and I stood taller and carried the body to the window. The rest of the sentinels were outside when I dropped the body ten floors down. "Your president is dead! I rule the eastern sector now!" They danced from foot to foot down below. I jumped down the ledges and landed softly on my feet with a thump. "Only a hundred of you remain. The hundred left have been sentenced to die at my hand." Each sentinel was then grabbed and forced down and their necks were bared to me. One hundred times I plunged my knife down into the spine, one hundred bodies hit the ground and I looked around. Blond hair waved in the wind, red streaks danced on his skin.
Jasper was strewn out on the grass with a knife plunged into his stomach. My soul dropped, my stomach churned violently and I raced over to his side dropping to my knees. His eyes blinked in and out of focus but he smiled when I wrapped my hand around his. "Hello again Onyx. Did we win?" I nodded and bit back tears. "We took the eastern sector. It won't be long before we win." I pulled my fingers through his hair and rubbed the back of his hand with my thumb. "Protect Anouk for me, and take care of yourself. Remember now I'm not there to remind you to eat and socialise, and don't be bad to Clarke she's good to you." He coughed and blood sprayed out into the air and hit my skin. "I'll take care of her, and Clarke and myself of course. But sleep now brother, we will meet again someday." He smiled at me and closed his eyes, breathing out a last breath and dropping limp from my hand. I pulled away slowly, dragging my body back up to standing and going over to D. "Take a group back and round everything up from the caves. We stay here now. And bring me Anouk, and send a search party for her mother or a surrogate nurse." He nodded and rounded up twenty people before taking off towards the caves. I took Clarkes arm, bringing her into the building and scouring for a room. Next to the presidents office sat a large bedroom, the bed covered in furs and the stone floor had papers littered over it. No other furniture sat in the room yet, leaving enough space to toss my bloody armor around the room. I threw the knives to the wall where they clattered to the stone and I pulled off the chest piece and then stripped to my under clothes. I screamed and threw myself to lay out on the ground on my belly where Clarke came up and squatted down next to me. My eyes burned with unshed tears as she ran her hands over my back. "Jasper - he" I sobbed and she rubbed roughly into tight muscles. "I know baby. It's ok." She pulled me into her arms and cradled me to her chest. "He wasn't suppose to die he wasn't suppose to leave me yet I can't do it without him. I wanted to end this fight with him, the way we started it." I tugged at a small cut in the leather of her armor. Her hand wove into my hair and the other traced circles over my belly. "Sleep, it's ok I'll be here." I nodded my head against her chest and forced my breathing to slow before sliding into a light sleep listening to Clarkes heart.
