I walked for what seemed like eternity through the same old forest. I was starting to think that this was pointless and was about to head back to my house when a small light appeared through a few meters ahead of me. I inched forward and had to shield my eyes form the daylight. Toto ran infront of my and started barking.
"What is it boy?" I looked to what he was sitting next to and I my eyes widened at what I saw. It, I mean, he was a scarecrow tied up to a very tall stick which was stuck in the ground.
"SCOTT?!"
He jumped and opened his eyes.
"Uhhh...yes? Who might you be?" Scott questioned.
This can't be real.
"Excuse me Scott, but would you happen to know where the Wicked Witch's castle might be?"
"I think so."
"Would you mind showing me where it is?"
"Sure. But first, get me off of this pole thingie."
I took out a dagger from the small bag and cut the ropes that bounded him to the pole. He hopped off and rubbed his wrists.
"Thank you miss."
"No problem. Call me Kirstie." I smiled at him.
"Okay. Let's go." He nodded his head at the pathway. He hooked his arm with mine and we set off.
FEW HOURS LAYTAIR...
"Are we there yeeeet?" I groaned for the the millionth time.
Scott just shrugged his shoulders. He opened his mouth to say something, but before any words could come out, a voice interrupted him.
"Hello? Is anybody out there?" The unknown man asked.
"Yesss...?" I called out.
"Can you come here? Please? I need help!!!"
"Okay, okay I'm coming!"
I hurried over to where the voice was emanating from, dragging a confused Scott behind me. The voice came from a tin man that looked exactly like....
"MITCH!!!" I screamed.
"H-how did y-you know my name?" He looked scared.
I shrugged. "You just look like a Mitch."
"Ooookaaay theeen. Anyways, can help me? I'm rusted and I can't move at all!"
"Of course! One question , why are you standing in the middle of the forest?" I asked as I motioned the other two to help him.
"Well, my family was out of oil and a woman told me to go out to the forest and that I would find some oil. So I did. I was looking everywhere, and then I found this one," he moved his eyes to the oil pot next to him, " just sitting on the rock. I walked up to it and was just about to reach down and grab it, when it started pouring very hard. I rusted very quickly, and here I am." Mitch finished.
When he finished, we were done oiling him and he could move around with ease.
"Thank you soooo much Miss...?"
"Kirstie."
I was about to go deeper into the forest when Mitch stopped me.
"WAIT!!! Can I come with you? The same woman that told me to go look for the oil told me that a girl would free me and that if I helped her in her duty, I would earn my family a lifetime supply of oil!" He pleaded.
"Alright. You can tag along." I replied.
He grinned at me at caught up with. Now with three new-ish friends, I carried on with what seemed like an almost impossible quest.
A/N Well, well, well, long time no see... Sooooooo sorry for the very late update, I hope this chapter makes up for it. I'll try update this between Wednesday and the weekend because I have no school this Thursday or Friday. ( YAY!!!) Thanks again to everyone who has been reading my story. It has over 200 reads now, which is a lot to me, since I never expected my book to have this much. If you want anything to happen, or I made any mistake , which I probably have, leave a comment below.
