Hospital....AGAIN

I dodged a throwing star as I withdrew my butterfly knife.

Steve lay on the ground, knocked out.

I ran towards the window to escape. The intruder threw a star. As went to open the window, the start embedded itself into my back. I screamed out in pain. Realizing I had no other option, I turned around to fight.

The intruder threw a punch at my jaw, but I threw myself on the ground.

The throwing start still was in my back, and it tore loose as I rolled away from my attacker.

I groaned as a boot came crushing down on my arm.

Sirens were audible in the distance.

The intruder leaned down towards my ear, "Soon, your head is mine."

The voice sounded so familiar. It was definitely female.

The assassin took her boot off my arm. I tried to get up, but a shearing pain shot through my back and arm. My arm lay in a mangled position, and I knew it was broken. I could feel my blood turn cold as it oozed out of my back.

The assassin placed a calling card right beside my head. I then knew who it was right then. I thought i had killed her.

"You... I thought I killed you," I breathed out. Every breath was strained as I tried to sit up.

"You thought wrong. And now your going to pay," she answered, "you shall pay with your life. I know your one weakness."

I braced myself for the crushing slam on the back of my head. It never came. I looked back up to see that she had left.

I looked back at the calling card; a single black feather lay on my floor.

------------------------------

"Where is she?"

I could hear Horatio's frantic voice.
Soon enough, a nurse lead Horatio into my hospital room.

"You know, I love this hospital so much, I decided to come back fpr the second time this week," I said sarcastically. Horatio didn't smile at my joke.

The nurse left us alone, and Horatio simply stated down at me.

After a long silence, I found the courage to talk, "This town has truly become a pain in my back."

Horatio again didn't smile. "Im here to take a statement," was all he said.

I nodded but didn't say anything.

"Start from the beginning," Horatio said.

I sighed. I told him about Steve coming over, then a person dressed in black came crashing in. I told him thats the last thing I remember.

"Are you sure that's all you remember?" Horatio asked. I knew he wouldn't push me for more until he had evidence, but he seemed to see right through my lie.

"Yeah, I'm sure," I lied. I looked away from his blue eyes as I said it.

He put his note book and pen in his jacket pocket.

"Are you okay, love?" Horatio asked.

I sighed, "For getting a ninja star thrown in my back, I'm perfectly fine," I lied. Truth was, I was worse than I ever had been before.

"If your sarcastic, I guess that means your feeling better," Horatio tried to make me smile. It worked, for I gave him a slight smile.

"Yeah, I guess so," I responded.

The room was quite except for the consistent beeping noise the monitor made.

"What's next?" I asked him.

"Well, I go off to find the bastered that did this," Horatio answered, his hands motioning at me.

I chuckled a little, "I didn't mean that, I ment what happens with us," I restated.

Horatio gave it a bit of thought, "You know, I'm not sure. I liked our date, and I liked how it ended, I'm just a bit confused on how the end ended," Horatio admitted.

I smiled remembering the kiss, "Yeah, I did, too," I said, "perhaps we could do it again sometime?" I asked.

"Yeah," Horatio smiled, "We'll discuss it more when you get out of here," Horatio said. He bent down and kissed my forehead.

I smiled as he walked out, then began to think about what I was going to do. If horation stayed with me, he could get hurt, and it would be my fault. I sighed, knowing fully well that SHE was palnning something. As soon as I get out of here, I thought, I have to protect Horatio, and I have to kill her.
