Shadow was just a simple knight that served a very nice, and loyal king. One out on patrol, near the beach of the kingdom Shadow stumbled upon a creature only known in legends.

One day Shadow a loyal knight to king Scourge, was out patrolling the beach of the kingdom when he stumbled onto a creature. At first he had no clue what it was, but when closer inspection he realized it was a merhog.
A merhog, I thought those creatures were only legends? Shadow didn't have time to dwell on it though, when he saw the other was badly hurt. So he picked up the creature, and took it back to his king.
~ Sonic's Dream ~
I was swimming in the castle with my siblings Sonia, and Manic. We weren't paying attention, and crashed into some vases while also hitting a maid in the process. Uh Oh, dad's going to be so mad!
Yah no kidding, Sonia what do we do?
Your asking me, Sonic, and you are the ones who did it how am I supposed to know!?
Yah, but if we get caught you get in trouble too, so help!!
Sometimes I hate you Manic.
I love you too sis, now let's take care of this mess.
Just then Jules leader of the merpeople, and father of the three children showed up. He looked around to see a knocked out maid, and broken vases then knew what happened. He sent the maid to the nurses office to be looked after, and sent the three royals to their rooms till dinner.
hours later dinner came, and the whole family was eating. Jules and Alena being king, and queen sat at the head of the dinning table. While there three kids occupied the remaining seats. They all had been chatting, when an explosion came out of nowhere, knocking Sonic and his family to the floor.

Sonic woke up panting tears, and sweat littered his face. He looked around but had no idea where he was. He had no clue how he got there, or where there was!
Meanwhile with Shadow
Shadow was currently walking to the room there guest was in, he wanted to make sure he was okay. While he was walking, he was remembering how he had brought it back.
flashback:
Shadow was making his way back to the castle, with a merhog in his grasp. The little creature was adorable his scales were royal blue, his fins were a multi color of red, orange and yellow, and he was wearing jewels.
As much as he wanted to enjoy the sight of the creature, he had to get it to his king for help. King Scourge was a very nice king, so he knew his king wouldn't turn this creature away.
