Its been three weeks since Reagan's party, and when Sawyer and I did.... you know. He hasn't been to any of his classes, hasn't been answering anyone's calls or texts, not even Grayson's and Jasper's. He just fell off the face of the Earth, which was strange. The teachers acted as if nothing was wrong.
I made it to our usual lunch table, where everyone was seated. I took my usual spot between Luke and Ariel. "Ugh, I'm so tired." I mumbled as I took a bite out of my pizza.
"Hi, I'm so tired, I'm Luke." He gave me a toothy grin and stuck out his hand.
I gave him a serious look. "Are you kidding me?"
"No, I just told you for fuck sakes, I'm Luke, not kidding. I'm someone you can't forget, so tired."
"First, you're being a sarcastic little twat, now you're being a little cocky? What are we going to do with you?" Luke just smirked then took a big bite out of his burger. I rolled my eyes at him and then looked back at the others. "Any news on Sawyer yet?" The responses were 'no'.
"Hey Scar, why did the chicken cross the road?"
"Shut up."
"C'mon Scar, please?"
"Fine, Lucas."
"Don't call me, Lucas." He glared at me but then smiled when he remembered his joke. "Anyways, why did the chicken cross the road?"
"To get to the other side?"
"No, to get to the idiots house. Knock knock."
"Who's there?"
"The idiot." Luke hit the table as if he were playing the drums and started laughing. I punched him hard in the arm. "Ow! What was that for?"
"For being an idiot."
"How rude Scarlett." Luke stuck his tongue out and blew a raspberry. "You're the one who answered the door anyways." He mumbled.
"You're such a child."
"A big one at that," Jasper commented.
"Hey! I take that to offense." Luke pouted.
"Cry me a river."
"Cry me a river." Luke mimicked.
Ariel slammed her book down making everyone jump, including me. "Guys, please shut the fuck up. I'm trying to study!" I sometimes forgot she was there. She was usually mute the whole lunch period if she had to study, so I just got use to her silence. She took her studies very seriously.
Lunch ended up with an awkward silence after Ariel's outburst, like literally. Luke actually was so scared of her that he kept his head down. The day went by as usual. Work. Work. Oh yeah, more work. I swear our Environmental System's teacher just gives us notes, work, and projects; It never stops. I doodled on my notebook, time passing by with no notice. The bell rung signalling that the day was over. I shut my notebook, shoved it in my backpack hastily, and walked out with Luke and Ariel. I told them I'm just going to head home and call it a day. We said our goodbyes and parted our ways. It's Friday and I decided to go home, what is wrong with me? I got into my car and headed home taking the long way. Any way to avoid the rents and seeing no sign of my neighbors, I just wanted time to myself before dealing with any chaos that may or may not occur.
When I finally arrived home, it was pretty dark and late out. To be honest, that drive felt like two minutes. I breathed in, breathed out calming my nerves. Well more like trying. It's been a very interesting month, I guess you could say. I walked in, avoiding at all costs to be seen by anyone, or someone in particular. I silently walked up the stairs, trying to make no sound. Heading up to my safe haven, I made it without a single disruption.
