I spent the night at the hospital and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Throughout the night I was serenaded by the guy in the other bed in the room vomiting up everything he's ever eaten which he then followed up with a round of dry heaving. Eventually he stopped, only for me to fall asleep and get woken up to go down for a test.

"Hi, Jacob? My names Kira and I'm going to take you down for your MRI this morning. Can you tell me your name and date of birth?" She reached for my ID bracelet as I muttered out my name and birthday.

"Perfect." She said, "Do you have any metal on? Like rings, bracelets, retainers?"

"No" I replied, she nodded and then left the room. She came back a few minutes later with my nurse and PCA.

"Alright, youre going for your MRI, were going to pull you over and then she'll take you down okay?" Noah, my PCA told me, even though I already knew. I swear they think I'm stupid. Well, I am going to get my brain scanned. Damn.

They pull me over and lift up my foley. Wait, what? I have a foley catheter? When did that get there?

Kira pulls up the rail on the stretcher and we leave. Goodbye 5 East.

I watch every corner we turn and elevator we take, trying to memorize the hospital, but after we few twists and turns I'm lost.

__________

I ended up falling asleep until we got to the MRI room. It was dark except for a few dim lights and the computer screens. There was a window by a door but it was small and it was cloudy outside.

"Jacob? Hi, my names Erin, I'm going to be performing the MRI, can you tell me your name and date of birth?"

"Jacob Manning, September 5th, 1994"

He fishes for my wristband under the blankets and asks if I have any metal on, once again I reply with a confident 'no' and he wheels me into the MRI holding room with Kira's help. She  hands him a green binder and then leaves. Goodbye Kira.

Erin leaves and returns with a syringe.

"This is Ativan, it'll help you stay calm during the MRI test. Which arm did they have your IV in?"

I lift up my right arm and he gets to work unscrewing the cap and screwing in the syringe and after a few minutes I feel as calm as ever.

I get wheeled out into the main room again but this time theres a smaller stretcher waiting for me. Erin parks me right next to it and I begin to scoot over onto it.

"Woah, not yet bud. We're gonna pull you over, you're too weak to scoot."

Too weak to scoot? What was I just doing then? Scooting, that' what.
