I decided to stop by the compound before going to the party down by the harbour. I went up the stairs to the kitchen to grab a snack and then headed towards my bedroom before leaving. On my way out I bumped into Veronica, one of the younger girls.
"Hey are you not going to the party?" It had just gone eleven, and it looked like she was ready for bed.
"I just got back, I wasn't really feeling it,"
"Oh ok," I smiled and started walking away when she spoke again.
"Hey, are you going though?" There was hesitance in her voice. I turned around and paused.
"Yeah, I'm on my way out now," I kept a neutral expression. She was wringing her hands, and wouldn't look me in the eyes. "Why?"
"Luc left town this morning, so he's not at the party, but Ade's super drunk, and I heard Tommy and Jason saying that some kids from Paragon Prep were gonna try crash. Just a heads up," Poor girl looked terrified. Paragon Preparatory School for Boys was a private school north of the city. It was an elitist school for future politicians, the children of politicians and the old-money rich, which went against everything Luc, Ade, and The Nine stood for. Vanessa was probably more scared of the fact that she used to attend Paragaon Prep for Girls, and if the wrong people found out, she could be in a lot of danger. I muttered an okay and let her leave.

I needed to change my outfit. I quickly ran up to my room and picked out something that would distract Ade. The party was at its peak when I got there. Red solo cups trashed the floor, the acidic stench of alcohol and sweat lingered in the air, and the deafening music sent vibrations through my chest. I scanned the room for Ade and, spotted him by the patio door. My eyes flickered to the bar, as I considered grabbing a drink to prepare me for the night ahead but I walked past it. I needed to be sober to deal with his ass. I had spoken to one of the good guys, Sid, on the phone before I got there to make sure he could take care of anything while I kept Adrian busy.
The heeled thigh-highs gave me an extra swing in my hips as I approached him and his suck-ups, and I could already feel the oncoming rash from the black leather shorts.
Adrian Maystorn. Younger brother and deputy to Lucas Maystorn. Both, portray tendencies of excessive violence with or without provocation, and especially when intoxicated.
Adrian's lip was cut and a shiner was turning his cheek a gorgeous shade of purple. His knuckles looked swollen too, but he didn't seem to notice any of his external injuries as he laughed at his own crappy joke. Sid intercepted me before Adrian could acknowledge my presence.
"Hey you ok?" He asked. I gave him a questioning look.
"Yeah why?"
"No just.... n-nothing no, um.."
"Bro just tell me,"
"No it's nothing seriously, i was just uh, wondering if you were ok after.. you know... the whole thing that went down between Ade and Luc," I pursed my lips at the memory of it. I don't know what came over Luc, but for some reason he felt the need to badmouth me to Ade, trying to say I came onto him. I don't know what he's playing at but it's definitely no good. The two brothers are easily aggravated, and more so by each other, next thing you know fists are flying and tables are being smashed.
"Yeah I'm fine, it's whatever." He nodded his head in response. One of the other guys came up to Sid and spoke a few quiet words into his ear and left. Sid's face tensed up and his eyes,et mine.
"Prep boys were seen sneaking round the back," he told me.
"Where abouts?"
"Near the loading bays,"
"Don't do anything yet, the harbour is still government property. Take a couple guys round back and keep an eye out. If they're out this late all the way down here, they're obviously looking for trouble."
"I'll call you if it gets out of hand." With a nod we parted ways. I decided I needed a drink anyway, and grabbed one out of a girl's hand, passing by. I downed it, throwing the plastic cup to the floor, and strutted towards Adrian. His sleazy eyes darkened and his gaze raked over me as my stomach tightened in disgust and desire. He was the biggest piece of shit I'd ever known, second only to his brother, and I fucking hate him, but damn was he good in bed. I sat on his lap sideways and snaked an arm around his neck, his suck-ups backing away a little.
"Hey baby," he gave me a crooked smirk and trailed sloppy kisses down my neck. His breath stank of alcohol and there was a musty sheen of sweat lining his forehead. I raked my fingers through his hair with one hand and traced patterns on his back with my nails by the other. I could tell he was about to dismiss his dogs so I quickly straightened up and started a conversation about nothing. I needed them present to keep him occupied so I could check if a text comes through, without him noticing. I also tried to get him as drunk as possible so that he passed the line from aggressive to unresponsive.
