“Just take a step on that rock, here; hold my hand,” Omar’s sweet, conciliatory voice rang through my ears. I took his hand uneasily and held it tightly, not intending to let go. I whimpered before looking over to Omar for reassurance. His golden, glowing eyes pierced through me in a lovely way; a way that I loved so much.
Omar was standing across from me, holding out his hand. There was a slim river in between us and a rock that I was supposed to step on in the middle in order to get to the other side.
“Hurry up,” Omar moaned, pulling me slightly. I squealed.
“W-wait!”
Pause.
Omar looked at me with an annoyed gaze. He raised his eyebrows, waiting for an answer. I opened my mouth slowly, listening to the natural sound of the rushing river.
“What if I fall?” I asked, looking into the river. The water roared almost above my voice. The river wasn’t that wide but it still looked threatening and deceiving. I looked up to Omar nervously, waiting for an answer.
“Then I’ll be there at your funeral,” he smiled sweetly. I laughed before getting a hold of his hand with both of my hands. I held on tightly and shifted a bit, getting ready for the leap.
“Lilies,” I said, shuffling, my heart pounding at the mere thought of not making it. He brought his other hand towards me and got a good grip on my hands. I inhaled and exhaled gradually, slowing down my heartbeat.
“Lilies?” he asked, dumbfounded. I felt myself being reassured by his hands tightened on mine.
“Lilies; the flower of death…for my funeral,” I sighed before stepping off the edge of the grassy plain onto the rock in the middle of the river. I screamed mentally and sighed. I made it half-way through.
“On the count of three,” he smiled across from me. I felt water rush through my worn out tennis shoes. I nervously looked down at the water rushing around the rock I was stepping on. What if I slipped? I relaxed myself and counted quickly.
“One, two three,” I said, pulling myself to Omar’s side. It was not a good landing at all. I tumbled down to the grassy ground, dragging Omar down with me. The quiet field was broken from its silence by our rabid laughter. Soft grass poked me slightly. I attempted at standing back up and succeeded. My clothes were grassy and a bit wet.
“Help me up,” Omar ordered, still lying down on the vibrant green, endless field. He raised his eyebrows at me, the sun brightening his dark hair to a lively brown. I bent down and placed my hands on my knees, looking expectantly at him. I cocked my head to the right, causing my should-length hair to hit the air.
A few weeks ago, I had cut my own hair due to depression. I was under so much depression and so much confusion.
The king of Lopal, Lovereros and my former “therapist’ was finally executed and Gregory, Gaelan’s father, had taken his place. Almost all the depression ended there.
There was also another reason why I was depressed; Anya.
Anya was Omar’s former girlfriend. Anya had been a definite threat to me. Omar hadn’t liked me at that time…well as far as I thought. He had been dating Anya during the time I had been swooning over him.
